I had both big toes repaired (bunionectomy, I think it’s called & my toes were also surgically broken & straightened) about 20 years ago (separate, not at the same time). My big toes looked my grandmothers toes. I’m pleased with the results. However, my second toe on my left foot developed a hammertoe deformity. I am not pleased with the outcome as my toe is in worse condition with the joint enlarged (fused) and the toe is crooked and leans to the left, impinging on my third toe (overlapping). My orthopedist suggested straightening the top part of my toe. I refused because my discomfort is at the base of my toe & where the “crookedness” begins. Fast forward until last year & PT for another issue & my PT said there is now PT for hammertoes! Oh, I wish I had known! So, I would love a solution to my botched hammertoe surgery!

Thank you very much for sharing this video, it answered so many questions I had about my hereditary bunion ,my (R ) foot has the same thing as my grammy did ,but her hands were horrible, her knuckles were so swollen and red ,she would get gout and it was extremely painful ,now I'm a retired animal groomer and my hands are bad ,they aren't swollen up knuckles YET ,But my dr sent me for testing ,I have carpal tunnel going up both of my arms sometimes I drop things and sometimes my fingers are all crooked and lock up and I have to undo them with my other hand, it is horrible started in my twenties and now I am in my 50s has continued to get worse I know I'm a glutton for punishment I always overdo things and I know I can't do that but I want you to say thank you very much for your knowledge you shared on this video 😊I appreciate all of your knowledge and wisdom, keep up the great videos! Blessings to everyone who is suffering in day pain as ,I do & ots my whole body, NO I don't take any pain medicine,,,I've been down that road and refuse to take anything, I use menthol based products and ice ,I also have a tens unit that helps with my pain ,,my trick is to keep my body moving for as long ,as I can on a daily basis with my service dog, thank goodness for her she gets me out of the house more than I would if I didn't have a dog ,,and I'm grestful for that ❤

Back in February 7 I had the surgery done for halux ridgus I had a bunion done in my little toe and I had plantar fasciitis. I don’t think I would go through surgery again. The swelling is not going down and my foot is still in pain. I also have no cartin my foot whatsoever in my ankle I have full-blown arthritis in my right foot I also have a flat foot on my right foot a size and a half different in feet and a high arch on my left foot and I hardly wore any high heels because I couldn’t wear them

Dr Tom if your toe joints are fused are you more likely to break your toes if you stub them against something? I have always heard that for the small toes.

What can I do to ease my muscle pain I take magnesium but it does not help. I am in pain everyday it is getting difficult to walk. I had a nasty fall about one month ago. I do little excercise everyday. But still get up with a stiff back and sciatic pain. Please help is their some kind of cream to rub or pain pill I can take to help?

Seems as if "cushion" running shoes plus orthotics would counteract each other. Why not minimalist/barefoot running shoes plus Powerstep orthotics ?

Hello everyone, I walked in the forest for 5 days with very cold temperature of - 2 degrees and the cold temperature affected my feet. Its been 3 weeks and still feeling severe pain every day and night 😭. Has any one heard of this before? Please help, I'm dying

You can also put an orthotic in a barefoot shoe if you prefer the shape or get Altra shoes . But you also made it sound like once you got your toe fused your life was over. I have had a podiatrist not want to just clean up a toe but want to fuse my toe . I’m getting a second opinion . I stand up most of my work day . And go for walks a 3 days a week . They tell you can still have an active lifestyle. But your video states otherwise . After your retired.
