They even "Play the Game" when the two "Leaders" face off with their "Mystical powers" in the big fight. The Shang Tsung guy even looks like he's holding the "Controller" for the game system. I'd also bet the "Monster" inspired "Blanka" from Streetfighter. but that last bit is just my own speculation.

It's a movie where a guy wanders into a story and mythology he's got no clue about, much like the audience. We're just watching it from Burtons perspective, he's got an inflated view of himself and might think he's the hero, just like the audience expects. Wang is naturally the real hero while Jack is the loyal, reliable and trustworthy sidekick who's willing to help out his bud no matter how crazy shit gets.

I love this movie so much. Jack Burton is basically *us*, the audience; We are the outsider looking in at a world that is far beyond our understanding, Jack is merely our guide. That said, for all his buffoonery, Jack is still a vital compainion to Wang. One alone could never have succeeded without the other. Jack is kind of the high-charisma Barbarian in the DnD party, while Wang is the Kensai. Egg-Shen is the Mage, Gracie is the Bard.

But since it kinda bombed at the box office it was retooled. That flick is worth a watch. I love that you did a reaction to this film! I saw it back in the 80s and it's one of my favorite movies. It's a story about good vs evil. Lo Pan was an evil sorcerer for ancient China. He was cursed for his evil ways, and had to marry then sacrifice the girl to break the curse. Breaking the curse would allow him to take over the world and plunge it into darkness, and so the heroes had to stop him. Also, Wang needed his woman back! The smoky potion they drank that allows you to "Can see things no one else can see. Do things no one else can do." is the reason for most of Wang's flipping around. I feel Jack's "indifference to what was happening" as you put was that he want the money owed to him and this is what he needs to do to get it. He's also a good guy from the 80s, so of course he's going to help. About all the caskets that the Chin Sing (Yellow Turbans) would need for their allies, I like to think they would load them all on a flatbed trailer and have Jack pull it behind his truck for the service.

The long hair is from 70's kung fu movies, Kung Fu masters would appear with white or black long hair. Usually the main villain, a veteran old kung fu master, would have long stylized white hair. It's these 70's kung fu movies plus Bruce Lee who started the heavily choreographed martial arts craze in hollywood, just before it movie's fights were done with boxing mixed with judo which were teached in the Army at those times.

The West Coast INversion of Ghostbusters...the most underrated performance of a minority actor, Dennis Dunn who (everyone knows) is the REAL hero of this movie

Its fantasy horror comedy movie, and Mortal Kombat was based on this movie. In my country it took a lot time to came here, so we always thought that was Mortal Kombat Movie.

38:34 John Carpenter is at first a musician and sound designer. Nearly all his movies have him do at least some of the tracks you hear. In The Thing the movie soundtrack was also His. Another John Carpanter's movie thats worth a watch is "John Carpenter's Vampires" with Ed Wood and one of the Sheen bros

One Airport security didn't get crazy like it is now until the September 11 terrorist attacks in 2001. Two In the 80's sunglasses were crazy. Look up punk and new wave sunglasses from the 80's on Google images. For an earlier triple Raiden reference watch Lone Wolf and Cub: Baby Cart at the River Styx (1972) An introduction to Japanese samurai movies.

I think the opening scenes where he's driving through Chinatown is San Fran. Please add Higher Learning and Lawless to the polls

All the shots with the truck driving is in San Francisco, and everything up to after they turn into the alley was San Francisco Chinatown. But everything after that was in a studio lot. But, there has always been rumors there are secret tunnels beneath Chinatown, if they all didn't collapse in the 1906 earthquake.

@@Codametal Yeah, i figured it was china town because of the hills. I didn't know about the tunnels, that's pretty cool. You can tell the alley shot on a lot, but it's all good, because the movie doesn't take itself that seriously; it's just good fun.

This is such a great movie. Another great Kurt Russell comedy is Overboard with Goldie Hahn his love time love. Y’all need to watch some Jackie Chan movies. His martial arts are so much fun to watch & he did all his own stunts. At the end of his movies would be outtakes of his stunts gone wrong.

The only reason Jack killed Lo pan the way he did is because he took that magic drink the Egg Chen gave him in the earlier scene

WOO! Love this movie! The part that people didn't get was that this wasn't Jack Burton's story at all, it was Wang's. Jack only serves to be the interlocuteur for the movie-viewing public. Jack represents the viewer getting taken on this weird-ass ride.
