Somewhere in between those numbers. Look at a Porsche Boxster GTS 4.0 vs a Corvette C8 6.2L, both RWD mid-engine and of comparable mass. The C8 has way way more power, bigger tires, and >50% displacement advantage, but in real world performance, the Boxster can walk away from a C8. Until 3/31 BMW is also making your first 6 payments so knock off another $1500 - $2000. Most dealers are not adding in destination or freight charges on the R18 demo models. Not a looser in the bunch, I just might have to go with the BMW something about it makes me want to sit and look at it. Same goes for the Harley Davidson. The Indian needs a different front fender, it just seems out of place in some way. But I wouldn't say no if I was given one. Love the way you do these videos. Please keep making them.

I'm really stuck between the street bob and the new chief. I was leaning Chief before this video and now after watching it looks like a toss up again. Thinking the Harley might edge out a win from me based on customizability alone. But damn does the Chief bobber dark horse look good with the floating pan seat.

BMW cannot take Harleys market in the USA unless they at the very least manufacture them inside the USA while hiring Americans to build them. Foreign marketing experts must also understand the shear size of the USA. No fuel gauge or cruise control knocks the BMW out of the running even if they're built by Americans.
@kedwards19523 жыл бұрын
No fuel gauge on a $25,000 motorcycle is unacceptable! What were they thinking?

The BMW is the only one I would consider. Why? Because in my giant touring group we own nearly every make (exc. KTM & Triumph), over 20 years we’ve had one major failure, yep, an HD Softtail blew its engine. I am suspicious of Indian because my other new Polaris product has been a mixed bag. My 18 year old BMW, on the other hand, has been to half the US and has 50k trouble free miles, same as my 2013 BMW GS adventure bike. Remember that 50s age guys grew up paying tariffs to HD for >700 cc bikes, which left a bitter aftertaste in our mouths. I agree that the BMWs likely will not sell because of the inherent HD vibe thing in the cruiser market, but my cohorts feel precisely the opposite.
@jackocasablanca12293 жыл бұрын

about the torque, 158nm = 117ft-lb; 119 ft-lb =161nm, so your data about the torque is wrong

I’ve been wanting a HD for the longest time, but its pricing was always a hurdle that stopped me. Now that Indian captured a minimalistic look with better technology than HD with better prices, of course there’s nothing to decide anymore.

Indian is only couple hundred bucks cheaper than the streetbob. I give props to indian for bringing in a fresh bike but the harley is better in my opinion. Indian's resale value is so bad. Get the harley, there's no substitute for it.
@Twincam8083 жыл бұрын
@THE UNKNOWNIST IN QUAERERE PROPTER INCOGNITUS to be honest, I like the simplicity of the streetbob. Less tech, less headaches. Accessories for comfort can be added by any individual depending on their taste. A bigger gas tank would help but it'll ruin the looks they're going for. To me it's like a sportster on steroids. Small, nimble, light but with a big engine. Plus the price tag is hard to ignore. Just my opinion.

Thanks for your vids. Very informative 👍 But i have a complaint. I think that the numbers of the Indian are somewhat incorrect. If you compare the 116 from Indian the HP may be nearly correct, but the 116 has at least 120 ft torque (162 Nm). This could really equal up the quartemile 😊 Cheers m8 and keep up with the good work 👍

claiming the shaft drive of the BMW requires less maintenance than a belt drive on other bikes is absolutely incorrect. it requires routine maintenance every few thousand miles whereas the belt drives of the other bikes requires virtually no maintenance at all.

They’re all nice. I’m not a fan of fork gators and the shrouded forks on the BMW look beautifully old school. I have the R18 Classic and appreciate the mid controls saving my lower (65 yo) back. The BMW was introduced at $12999 with BMW offering up to $2000 in rebates. Hard to pass on. My biggest gripe with the BMW are the exhaust. Not a fan. That, and no cruise control standard. Still, I love my Classic.
