Fantastic Tom, beautiful piece of work. Not even close to your level yet. Hope to get closer in the future. You are the master segmenter.

Amazing! I can’t get over all the math and details some of you woodworkers do to make such beautiful pieces. It’s a joy and so inspiring. Thanks for sharing your talent.

Great looking piece. I bought all your plans and worked my way to 60 segments per ring. 72 segments is next but I am light years away from 288. Thanks for sharing your craft and inspiring us.

Tom, Great to see a new video from you. It was almost a year. What finish did you apply? Looking forward to your classes this fall at Marc Adams School of Woodworking.

I think you forgot one crucial, if not the most important step in this tutorial: how to develop the patience and determination of a turtle doing a marathon. Perhaps you're a 10th generation Japanese craftsman reincarnated? What is the diagnosis for the opposite of ADHD? Is it called Lohman's syndrome?

If you changed for a screw clamp to a lever clamp, you could probably save half a second each clamp application. After a quick calculation, that'd save you about 1.5 hours total holy crap how are you able to do projects like these? :D
@TomLohman
@TomLohman Жыл бұрын
This was the first and maybe the only time I’ve done this clamping, could only do it for 41 rows, the feature ring because was close to a cylinder. I have lever clamps but they just don’t have the same pressure.

Wow, Tom. That is a very impressive vase you have made, you must be very dedicated and persistent to be able to make this. What kind of program do you use for your designs ?

@@TomLohman So if you were going to sell this and try to make @ 40.00 per hour the price would be around 20K...worth every penny

I don’t know who would buy this piece. I put 500 hours into it, and at $20/hr comes to $10,000.

@@TomLohman It's certainly an amazing patience. I like the idea of making these vases. Yesterday I made my first vase out of 384 segments, and I loved it. But there is no precision at all. The segments between the rings do not fit together. Maybe I will make a similar gluing device too. I think your work should pay off handsomely. How are the sales of the finished products? In general, do they buy them? Or are they made for yourself?
