I’m in Arkansas so we don’t see near this many Goldeneyes. The only drake I have mounted I shot it on the water and it dove. I hit it pretty good but the funny thing is is that it came out of the water like a Trident missile. It was like it started flying underwater so as soon as it broke the surface it was flying. One of the craziest things I’ve ever seen while duck hunting.

They are unbelievably tough, pretty much a freshwater sea duck in my opinion

We are froze up north of ya, so you should be getting alot of new birds. Ive gotta try that big water some day

Are they any good to eat? I’ve always heard they tasted very fishy. Also, could someone rate the diving duck species in order of how they rank as table fare? I know Canvasback are supposed to be the best.

They aren’t the greatest, I’ll be the first to admit that 😂, but they are better than any merganser for sure! Redhead and Canvasback are by far better though

What lake is that as the water level seems low? With all that boulders exposing.
