Thank you! Practicing my English at least once a week has been really helpful in getting more comfortable with it! And getting more comfortable in front of a camera probably plays a part too🙈

As an idea for what to talk about during the weaving in segment, how about you tell us what changed in your yan shelf? The sleeves look great, so cozy and elegant! Another thought on weaving in ends which might or might not help you: Every time you pick up a WIP that has ends that still need weaving in, how about you weave in one end before you start knitting for the day? One end is done quickly and you can go back to knitting, but over time you'll get ahead on weaving in ends and can use the podcast segment for your basket of shame again!

Thanks for the suggestion! I'll talk about it when I make changes! I think the sleeves will be perfect! And I can also imagine myself using them in day to day life afterward, which has been a focus of mine! Hopefully winter and everything slowing down will make time for more weaving in of ends🤞🏻

I love the progress you made on the wedding dress and congratulations for finishing weaving in the ends on 2 projects! Don't feel bad about falling off the bandwagon.... we all do it and those ends will still be there when you get to them.

It's so nice to feel like I'm making good progress on the wedding dress❤️ I try to remind myself that something is better than nothing, and weaving in ends for one projects is much better than none even if I don't catch all the way up! The ends will still be there when I have time for them

Love your Louvre! I always wanted a second Louvre. Maybe it needs to be a rust colour 😃Also love that hat with ear flaps! I found the pattern on Ravelry, only in Norwegian. I am going to buy it and use google translate. If that doesn't work I'll come begging for help 😜The wedding dress is coming along so well! The sleeves are perfect! Remember that there is no personal statistics police. You can absolutely enter the wedding dress as finished on Dec 31st even if you needed a couple more days in January. You did knit almost everything in 2024 after all. Thats absolutely fair!

Thank you! A Louvre in rust color gets my seal of approval! I hope google translate can figure it out! If not im happy to help! It's such a great hat🥰 I'm so happy to finally feel like I'm making actual progress on the wedding dress! Seeing bits and bobs come together to make my vision come to life might be one of the best feelings ever🥹❤️ You're 100% right about the stats! I'll probably end up logging it as being finished in December even if it's not🤫🙈

A belt makes a nice keepsake, too, if you choose to repurpose your dress later on!! I was interested in your needle dilemma. I only use dpns for socks, really. I use an 80 cm circular for everything else; I slide the stitches to the end and just loop any extra length and if the circumference gets too small for that I magic loop the last few cm, so I never need to switch cable lengths. Works for me, anyway!

I don't think I could ever part with the dress after spending all this time making it🥹 Hopefully most parts except the main dress can continue being used after the wedding🥰 I wish I could learn to like using 80cm circulars for everything! It must be cheaper and easier in terms of what needles you need to keep with you! I've tried to get into it and give it a fair go multiple times, but I just can't quite get the hang of it😅

Maybe you could change your mindset to how many pieces did you knit, and complete up until you can wear it and give a wear test. That way weaving in ends, blocking the project, sewing on buttons, or whatever might get put off has to be completed before you can count the item as finished. Knitting is only 1 step of the making process just like sewing requires you to also have an iron and scissors to complete the other stages it requires. Just a thought... I love the sleeves! I've been waiting for you to let us know when that pattern came out. Thank you for letting us know! I think I'm going to make one for my daughter. I may make mine with at least 1 strand of drops Brushed alpaca silk. I love that so much!

I combine counting finished products when everything is finished with working on my thinking process while doing finishing touches and I was able to shift my mindset a ton. Practicing gratitude and general positive thinking instead of repeting over and over how much I loath the process was a hudge game changer!

I don't look at a project as all done until it is all done, but weaving in ends and knitting are two very different things to me, so I only think of it as knitting until I'm done with the knitting segment🥰 The pattern for the sleeves is amazing! Such a fun knit and I LOVE the end result❤️ Hope your daughter will love hers too!

@@norwegianknitter I know you have a completely different life than I do, age and stage of life, you do what's best for you and what works for you. I just know I enjoy knitting for my reasons and you do it for your own reasons. I only hope it brings you joy and happiness in the process is all. I only want you to be happy and not stress about how much you knit, but again, we are different so it's okay that we do things differently.

Did you think about inviting most belowed women in your life to help you with your dress? It is very empowering to make it by yourself, but having a ball of yarn knitted into your wedding garment by your mom, grandma and sister could be magical too. And such a beautiful metaphor for how we, women, share life experience, help each other thru struggles and celebrate milestones of eachother's lifes. Just a thought.
@norwegianknitter

I haven't thought about that! It is a lovely thought! I don't think they each could do a skein as everyone except my grandma and me are quite sliw knitters😅 we also all have very different tensions when we knit so it would be very obvious. But I want to find some way to incorporate them! It would be, as you say, a beautiful metaphor🥰

Hello! I just thought I’d give you my feedback on the Drops Daisy, I made a sweater out of it (in this exact green shade because I was influenced from seeing it in the back of your videos for so long😂) and it’s peeling like CRAZY I very much don’t mind some peeling and such but my sweater is really fuzzy and peely :// the Drops Daisy with a strand of mohair is perfect (like you did on the levitate wrap) but on its own I feel like it won’t necessarily be the most long lasting sweater ever….

Hi! I've had the feeling drops daisy would be a yarn like that😅 it's the softest yarn I've ever felt, buuut that seems to always come with it pilling like crazy🙈 I haven't been able to use (or put to use) anything in daisy only, but I am anticipating it needing to be depilled pretty frequently. I don't know if I think the softness is worth it yet🤔 Hopefully it will still last us a good while🤞🏻

I understand your love/hate relationship with zipper projects. I knit and also sew and I usually put the zipper in first with my sewing projects for the same reason you put your zipper in before you finish your sweater. I get it over as soon as possible and I have done tonnes of them over the years and they all look great, but in spite of this, I don't enjoy doing them.

What´s your experience with the collar on the zipper sweater? Just cast on for the zipper sweater light, and although the collar fits I´m a little scared it's gonna feel to tight around my neck. Does it loosen up after blocking and/or wear?
@norwegianknitter
@norwegianknitter 4 ай бұрын
@clothilderaahauge I'm my experience it looks amazing a lot more tight than it ends up being. It relaxes in blocking and when wearing. But personally I use it mostly half open most of the time anyway as the collar is so high up when all the way zipped❤️

My brother told me that as a single dad, he did the chores he disliked most, first. Then doing the things he liked would be a bigger reward. The subject in question was dishes and no. I still dislike doing them at all. The idea did not help me but maybe will work for you.

That's a really clever way of doing it! I just worry I won't have any time left to actually knit if I start with weaving in ends. And I need some time to do something I love and not only what I should do🙈

@@norwegianknitterthe fast way of doing it is using adrenalinę and scheduling combined - you set a date (p.ex every tuesday at 9.00 am) and time frame (20 minutes). Before you start you do a quick ice shower or walk barefoot in the snow. Then you do it only for 20 minuts and move on to something you like more with sense of acomplishemet.

as a mathematician I would definitely suggest counting meters and not grams :) You can not compare 47 g of fingering weight (almost 200 meters) to 47 g of worsted weight (less than 100 m). I myself have all my stats on Ravelry - there you can see how much yarn you used by year. Of course, you need to be entering all that information on project page. In any case - switch to meters ;) BTW, I loved the hat you knit, it looks amazing! Thank you for discussing the pilling issue of Daisy, I guess I will not buy it. I had a terrible experience with Lima, when I knit Monday sweater for my son and after every singe wear I had to de-pill it because it looked awful. I am really scared to try Lima ever again :D
@norwegianknitter
@norwegianknitter 4 ай бұрын
I have thought about grams nor being that comparable, and I do keep track of meters, too! But I feel like meters aren't that comparable either, if I do a lot of double strander projects one year, or do many mohair projects, for example. That racks up meters like crazy without me knitting any more that I would with a single strand. I guess the best way is to look at grams and meters together. The hat is so cozy! Highly recommend! I think I've heard that pilling also depends on the person and their body heat? Lima does not pill much on me, but the sweaters I've made my son has pulled A LOT, but we mainly use Lima for work sweaters, so I'm fine with it. Maybe it pills more on kids? Or maybe everything mills more on kids because of the constant motion😅
