Incredible advice! Indeed an eye opener for several people joining the Big Four, for the time being, hoping that the brand will help them getting into big tech. Thank you as always, Ambarish.

Please make a video on Analytics role in financial firms like Wells Fargo, JP Morgan, Bank of America, Citi etc. These firms also provide designation like Analytics Associate or Analytics Consultant. Can you please make a detailed video what type work these firms do in analytics domain.

The part of having a CPA to become a partner is incorrect. Tech professionals can also become partners here. Pls correct. Also, tech professionals don’t only support assurance & tax, there are full fledged tech consulting engagements. 60% of revenue of Big4s now come from advisory. I think you need to research better.

The topic is to choose the group wisely. You basically supported my point that there are full fledged tech consulting engagements and there are other groups as well that people should know before they accept that job offer. Partners without a CPA are called Principal hence the term PPD. Partners, Principal and Directors. Welcome to Big 4 and thank you for your comments.

@@ambarish-dongre See CPA is a nothing but a title given to qualified CAs in other English speaking countries where English isn’t a native language for example India. Think about it, why would someone working in tech advisory need a CPA to become a partner ? I have many examples.

Hi sir, I am actually stuck in one of the Big 4's just like you said. I want to move to a more technical role. I have only finished one year here and would like to hear from you what I should do in order to move to a technical role.

Are you in india or USA? Its very very tough to change groups in India. Senior managers in India think they own you and rarely let you go try out other stuff. In USA its much easier because of work culture. You can literally have a word with your coach and he/she will speak to the partner about your interests (any change will happen next year and not instantly so you have to be patient)

Hi Ambarish, thanks for the video. I am currently in Oracle India and have an offer from PwC India technology consulting. Your videos are very helpful in making any decision. Would love to hear your advice as well. Thanks

You are moving from a product company to consulting. Although skills required are similar, working style is very different. Pwc would be all about utilization and client service and eventually you have revenue or sales targets. I mean its good and nothing wrong in it but wanted to just point it out that “just” technically strong doesn’t cut it in consulting.

I received an offer as an senior consultant in technology consulting in EY India. All the interviewers/ hiring managers have technical backgrounds. Is this role good for growing in technical domain?

I agree with you but your opinion looks slightly skewed. There are specific verticals in each of the Big4s now which are specialised only in Data Engineering, Analytics, ML and cyber to name a few. This has nothing to do with their existing clients engaged in risk advisory, audit or assurance verticals. The work output of Tech teams in these verticals are no were related to the verticals for which Big4s are known for. Strategy and Analytics, Data Modernisation, PACE are examples of such verticals in Deloitte.

True. I myself have worked in Deloitte for almost 10 years and there are a lot of technical opportunities. However there is no denying the fact that some groups like i mentioned do exist and people join them with no prior information hoping to get a tech experience. This video is just asking the audience to do their research before accepting a role.
