Big Bang marked the beginning of a new era. Idols writing their own music, shifting from the “pop” music and more into the hiphop and rnb genres. TOP started as an underground rapper, Taeyang embraced his rnb influences like Chris Brown & Neyo type styles, GD was the young genius rapping and songwriting for Big Bang. BigBang definitely turned a tide where idols could also be seen as artists. Not that there weren't talented idols before them but just because of the industry and public perception of idols, they weren't seen as artists as much before. Also for a lot of hiphop and rnb artists nowadays they grew up seeing BigBang on tv and on the radio. They got to see rappers who wrote their own stuff being adored by the public so it's not surprising to hear also many non-idol hip hop artists love and respect them.

I did not discover Big Bang until 2015 and “Bang, Bang, Bang”. 😭. Luckily later that year an oddball station that aired S. Korean programming at night aired the entire 2015 MAMAs. Three times. Yeah. I didn’t not have the recording option 😭😭😭. That was the most amazing award show and concert I had and have ever seen. I am 71. Big Bang got in my top ten all time favorite groups. Then moved to my top 5. Now my #1. Few over my decades have been able to make me cry when they do a sad song. These guys have because they put their hearts there. It took me awhile to decide who is my favorite member of the 5. Seungri is still a member to me. They are all so very talented in their own way. Each has totally different styles and voices. I finally realized Daesung has a bit of an edge for me. His smile alone lights up rooms, stadiums, and my heart. It is contagious. I wish them joy and happiness.

What makes me admire BB and GD (especially since everything about them becomes controversial), is that they could respond to the hate they receive, pay the media to speak well of them and hush up the scandals, sue the haters. But no, they don't defend or attack, they just wait, trust and know that their work will speak for them. I'm trying to be like that, there are people who, out of envy, create traps, lies, humiliation just to get you out of the way, because they feel you're a threat and I think about reacting the same way. But I've learned that the best thing is for you to wait in silence, acting with the truth, and not give up. My choice to take the hard way will take me to the highest places. I look forward to seeing them at the top again. People like that, who don't hide their mistakes, don't pretend or force perfection, in an industry where "good image" is profit, deserve to respect. Been a fan of khip hop because of smtm and tiger JK. And if you are aware of idol vs underground rappers discrimination, Idol rappers are heavily critized by underground rappers because of their "lack of skill". But almost all underground rappers have big respect to bigbang. Such a very influential group

The best part about bigbang is that I come from a place y’all must’ve never heard of : ARUNACHAL PRADESH, (it’s in India) and in a far of place like that where internet wasn’t much used we use to go to the cyber cafés to download big bang’s music videos , they had a lot of huge influence. Only if the internet was like as it is today and the fans as crazy chasing for likes and views, they would’ve already broken all charts

Since people can't drag them for their talent they drag them for their scandals. Can't deny they have had some severe scandals but Imagine an active kpop group going through so much scandals and still being relevant. I guess only bigbang survived that. Because general public loves their music. I'm glad they are coming back but at the same time sad that my bias is leaving the group.

There would never be another "Bigbang" They are revolutionary and their music is absolute dope. Their song fantastic baby is arguably the best song in history of kpop. I'm really happy for their comeback "Still life". Bigbang might be going forward as ot4 but somewhere still in my heart it's always ot5 and it'd forever be.
