The Meadowcrest Mansion. An 8000 sqft Neo-Georgian home that was built in 1929 by Joseph McKee and John Edward as part of a 200+ acre farm called Hamburg Place that was owned by their father John E Madden. In 1932 Joseph passed away and left the mansion to his wife and children. In the 1960s I-75 was built which split the property in half. After Joseph’s wife passed away the mansion stayed in the family but sat abandoned for years. In 2017 the mansion was used in a horror filmed called “house of the witch” where a group of kids investigate a haunted mansion that had been abandoned for years. Today the mansion is being demolished for new development. So let’s take a look at what’s left before this beautiful home is gone forever.

I find abandon homes like this so sad. Somebody worked their whole life to build and afford that. It could be a mansion like this, or a modest home on farm or in a city. When they pass, the people that inherit it let it fall into decay, or sell it and move on. They did nothing to earn what they inherited so it has no value to them.

This is my hometown! I’ve driven by that house a thousand times and always wanted to explore it. I loved the movie so I could see what it looked like inside. As much as I loved this video it’s painful to see the house look so terrible and of course knowing it will be torn down soon. Thanks for exploring it one last time!

It must have been a stunningly beautiful mansion in the early days. It looks more modern to me than a house that was built back in 1929. Do you know how long it's been abandoned? Thanks for posting this.

The dryer worked by hanging bedding or clothing on the rods, then placing hot coals in the trays under the drawers , then sliding shut it was mostly for bedding though. I assume they had servants taking care of such a large household because these types of dryers are seen in homes like this occasionally. I hope this will be preserved, because it’s such an interesting part of house managing history.

With our country being so young, these are our ancient ruins. Our history, however short. These homes need protection a d restoration. From the biggins like these, to the tiny shaker(cracker box) houses from the 18 and 1900s, these are our great pyramids, our coloseums, and stone henges. They shsould be restored and revered. Celebrated and enjoyed. This is a human made tragedy :( To demolish smthg like this, should be a crime :(

All that space and those damn developers had to come to that exact spot and tear it down? So they can build McMansions? If I was rich, I would rather have an older, quality built house than those particle board monstrosities that come down with one good storm or tornado.

I LOVED the bathroom! It would have gone beautifully with my house that burned down in 2014 :((( The kitchen was "cow" themed (as a tribute to my hometown of Calgary, AB Canada aka Cowtown - for the yearly Stampede there every July) the kitchen was pink/white/black with a theme worded "LIFE: the black, the white and the Udder" lol mounted in large words atop the large kitchen space, yep, these ppl decorated in my kinda theme indeed, and although I am most grateful to have a home, built in 2014 after the fire, it has zero character compared to my other home. Character homes should be preservered at all costs, whenever possible.

I was thinking that if you have a plastic bag in your backpack along with dry socks then you could put the dry sock on, then the plastic as a barrier between your sock & wet shoe. My parents lived right down the road from the Madden's. It is always so sad to see these old grand homes going to waste. The Interstate wasn't close enough that this home couldn't have been saved but the land had been sold for shopping centers. Actually a very saavy business move on Anita Madden's part, she sold the land that is now Hamburg Shopping Centre' (huge) but had in the agreement that the buildings in the Centre' were leased to her for X number of years so her estate will continue to earn money off of all the businesses there. Also the Maddens are quite famous for their Kentucky Derby Eve parties, many well known politicians and celebrities came to the parties which were very very posh. Quite a history in that old house. Thanks for the video.

The younger generations that we have need to learn the histoory behind evry old building, house, momument etc. Thsi is where we teach our children about the people who came before us. Love watching videos of these places, just wish they wouldn't tear them down.

It's all gone now. Demolition is complete and land is cleared ready for another strip mall or perhaps another hospital. Easy access from I 75.

Thats crap they are tearing this down! It should be on the National historical society and be saved. It should be illegal to tear places like this down

awww i’m sorry u need to be super careful, the snow hides a lot of dangers, That pink porcelain needs its own stick of dynamite, otherwise awesome find, it’s a shame to destroy it , it has cedar closets & everything really nice
