The lights are on because they are solar lights,. They have sun capturing cells inside that converts to light when turned on.The power was turned off.. That's why you had those battery operated switches. I also saw a solar inverter. It looks like a car stereo preamp. You missed that.They were using a solar panel to connect to the inverter and then they could use it to operate the stereo, lights, microwave, or even a small refrigerator. If know one has answered your question regarding the name of those mysterious instruments. At around 58:30 the instrument you see is called a sitar and it's an eastern instrument from India I believe. You might have heard of the famous sitar musician Ravi Shankar. Whom made a deep impact on western music in the late 60's, mainly influencing the Beatles. And as for the other instrument at aprox. 59:10 I believe that is another eastern instrument called a guzhen or a koto, which are originally from China and Japan. I'm not sure if I'm totally right, but certainly close enough. ANd thank you for the super trippy videos.
