I have a speed 400. So I am obviously a bit biased. But speed is also a very good tourer. In fact I have done 30k kilometres on my speed already taking it to all over the country. It is very nice and pleasant. I have ridden the Himalayan and Scrambler 400 for a good bit too (friend's bike). While obviously those are better for long distance touring, I didn't feel like I am missing out. It's a very good all around bike

The million dollar video wherein big bears suggested to go for midsized instead of 200’s. I am reaping the benefits of it & i am mighty happy with the decision i made - I am loving every bit of my25 Speed 400. 60kms of daily commute with first service yet to be done getting 30kmpl mileage and it is very well suited my driving style. The base model (smoke grey) does comes with the power mode (performance & eco). There is a M button just above the ignition. You need to hold that button down for 5 seconds to enable the eco mode. It does tend to switch back performance mode after you turn off the motorcycle. Btw, this is a really useful video. Keep up the good work 👏👏

Thank you for the awesome video! It was really fun to watch, and by the end, I was actually a little sad that it was over. I’ll be getting the Speed 400 soon! I've had a few instances in the past where I dropped my bike in slippery conditions (uphill, muddy broken road, in the rain). Though it was years ago, and I’m now much more mindful of the throttle in such situations and haven’t dropped my bike since (fingers crossed) I still want the added safety net of traction control. I love riding motorcycles and commute on one daily. Occasionally, I go on weekend rides, but I never tour and don’t plan to. I find long-distance travel far more comfortable in my car.

Great point on the Maruti LX/VX/ZX analogy. I remember reading about Pepsi doing the same thing at cinema halls. Small & Large options meant more people chose small because of the price difference. Introducing a medium meant nobody wanted the small anymore. That was intentional. Wonder if manufacturers do the same thing today as well.

This was the most honest ride review I have watched till date. Would slightly disagree on some points but 98% agree with everything said about both bikes. Double thumbs up for that. After having used my last bike for 15 years, I was clear about the use case of the bike. It's was going to be 95% city and 5% out of Mumbai long distance travel. So ilnew I wanted a bike that would be city traffic friendly. I really wanted to go for the Guerrilla cos I loved the all Digital Console. It mimicked the analogue gauge too well. This Console should have been on The Speed 400,it's that good. I was invited for the unveiling of the bike at the Prabhadevi showroom. I got to do a test ride too. And did the slow speed maneuverability and all important, how easy it is to was put it up on the center stand. Then straight away rode 10km to the triumph show room at ballerd estate for Speed 400 test ride. Same procedure of show maneuverability. And after the test ride I was absolutely sold that this was the bike to have. Now 5½ months with the bike and after 6500 km on odo, I can say with authority that Speed 400 is and absolute ease to handle in atrocious traffic in Mumbai. The radiator fan blasts the air in exactly perpendicular to the radiator away. I can only feel the heat on my shin n calfs. That's quite well managed. I'll add one point that sitting position wise and handling wise and even power delivery wise it's literally on par with my Yamaha FZ16. It feels like a 40bhp bike made by Yamaha, not Bajaj. A bike that Yamaha should have really made.

For a short rider transitioning from a moped (Activa 5G BS4) to a 400CC bike, the speed felt very less intimidating and it is easy to learn too. Loving my experience so far with the new MY25 Speed 400. There are a few changes to the previous iteration though like adjustable clutch and front brake, Ride by wire (Not too sure) and i think the blacked out exhaust is optional (can opt for the chrome variant too). Regarding the heating, it is not unbearable but noticeable, although i have to see how it heats up in the summers

@bigbearbangalore do you think the speed 400 can handle off-roading on a K2K ride? (Without any performance enhancements be it tyres, air filters etc)
@bigbearbangalore
@bigbearbangalore 8 күн бұрын
@nikhileshmaiya8900 yes it can as is. Tyre choices are based on the terrain. Kanyakumari to Kashmir 95% of the roads are tarmac, so it’s the 5% you’d need to manage. Perhaps a slightly medium block pattern can be useful in that 5% but the other 95% it would be ok too but not as good as the stock tyres. It’s a balance.

I test drove both these motorcycles and decided to go with the Guerrilla, do not regret my decision, 1000km in and it's still so much fun to drive every time. I got the bench seat as well since my legs are quite long for my height and it's probably the best investment I made for this motorcycle. The only negative I have about this motorcycle is that while the suspension is compliant for small bumps and you don't feel any harshness, the moment you run into a bad patch with multiple bumps at a slightly higher speed, the bike does not isolate anything and you feel every bump, it almost throws you off if you're not careful. Maybe 5%-10% softer suspension would have fixed this problem. But I will say the more I ride the bike, the softer the suspension has gotten and it does feel better than when I first got it.

Just change the rear sprocket of 2023-24 Speed 400.. I have put 40 teeth rear instead of 43 teeth stock.. Additionally have changed the stock Apollo Alpha H1 150/60 R17 with Vredestein Centauro ST 150/70 R17.. Have flushed the stupid stock Hindustan Petroleum Engine Oil & have Motul 7100 instead.. My bike is 1.5 yrs old & performs like a gem!!.. A highway cruise at even over 130 kmph is so enjoyable if you find the roads for it.. 100kmph on the meter in the top gear comes at 4800 rpm!.. The gearing now feels perfect!.. I suggest all of the above ☝️ changes for 2023-24 Speed 400 owners esp..

Few points to highlight here after long test drives of both bikes including T4 - here is my perspective Speed 400 has better weight distribution which feels when driving. Its shorter wheel base and agility can be felt as bike responds to your commands without putting lot of efforts. That's where the USD forks comes in picture. I have ridden Speed T4 and then Speed 400 - maneuverability is better in latter one. Its also better in tractability - in 3rd gear you can drive from as low as 25 kmph to 80 kmph - without engine lugging - ride by wire(throttle body) is tuned perfectly here. T4 lags, similar case with Guerrilla. Now coming to Guerrilla - because of wider handle bar, it gives that big bike feel. The engine lacks refinement and suspension is better suited for American roads. You get that sense of speed when you hit 80 kmph and feels you needs to slow down. I feel this is unfinished product launched by RE ( needs 10% improvement in suspension, fit & finish) Lets not forget the famous tilted swing arms as reported by many users. RE seriously needs to up their game if they want to compete with new gen machines. The only fly in the ointment for Speed 400 was the engine heat and Radiator fan throwing that hot air on my legs and it was reaching till thighs.

I am at the opinion of that the guerilla is a half backed designed where it takes some ques from Royal Enfield design language(looks like a hunter + imo) and some completely new. Now that being sorted, wanted to get back and considering the age factor was looking at a sub 400. Honda (350 RS), RE being the options. I have got my hands on a classic 500 - a decade old one. Still getting used to the ride. However, for ownership, I know for certain - I would prefer a sub 400.

having listened to you podcast few time over, i understand that the choice is not clear but the inclination towards guerilla seems apparent. What I want to know is how would a comparison between scrambler 400x and guerilla play out in your opinion. Lastly, the big buzz around semi -scrambler bikes in India seems to be around Bear 650 and scrambler 400x. If one were planning to buy a bike this year, would you suggest to pick between these 2 or wait for BSA BS65?.... A big fan of your channel and I absolutely love the banter and casual approach to the reviews.

Hello. Between the GRR and 400X if I didn’t have the H450 in my garage, I’d pick the 400X. Now that I have the H450 the choice changes. Choices are influenced by the dynamic situations that surround us. The Bear vs 400X is an inappropriate comparisons. It’s being done for the sake of doing something that draws attention. There is no logical reason to compare a 2.6 lakh 180kg single to a 3.4 lakh 220kg 650 twin. If budget is not a concern then I’ll pick the Ducati Scrambler if I wanted a Scrambler. 😀 Some appropriate baseline is needed to make a comparison. And many thanks for your support.

@@bigbearbangalore A big thank you for the logical and prompt reply. I have no counter to the point you made about unfair comparison between 400x and Bear 650.. . I am planning to make a purchase this year after not riding for 8 years and am looking to ride it over weekends . My budget is around 4L. and looks are an important factor as well as some future customization and mods. keeping the usage in mind, i would love to know your take on it ..

@bigbearbangalore 6 күн бұрын
@jagtejvirdee8418 the Bear is a bit intimidating because of its height and weight. Takes a little getting used to and takes some skill to derive joy from it. Test ride multiple times to know more about each machine. That said, the usability window and future proofing is better with the Bear. As your riding evolves and you become better and travel further and longer, you may run out of motorcycle on the 400X and the chances of that happening on the Bear is less. That’s a factor to keep in mind if you think your riding will evolve that way.

Hi I've been riding an MT-15 for 3 years (45k km) and I'm looking to upgrade. I'm considering the Speed 400, but I was impressed by the 650 Twins' performance - although I found it hard to handle. I'm seeking a bike with similar performance, lower-end torque, ease of handling, and reliability (like my Yamaha) under ₹3.5 lakh. Any suggestions As a Scram 400X owner, what's your take on the Speed 400's engine reliability?

the speed 400 doesn't really feel like a small bike, it sure looks like one, but its handlebars are decently wide, just 20mm less then what himalayan 450 has, the handlebar is a little lower compared to it. himalayan/guerrilla has smoother gear shifts, speed gear shifts are not good. engine drivability is excellent in speed, guerrilla hesitates below 3k and power delivery is more smoothed out compared to speed. suspension on speed, rear one is stiff and bouncy, not stable and hits in the back, haven't tried the guerrilla, but himalayan is god tier suspension. front suspension of speed is very good though. mapping is different for speed too 1st and 2nd gear different mapping, 3rd onwards ballistic mapping at 6k rpm sudden surge of power and linear there onwards. honestly about touring, its all about having good wind protection, the speed offers your a windscreen, and it may eliminate air till your chest level. both bikes will do 80-110, its not like one is ripping on the highway constantly. gearing on the speed is very short, i don't like it, engine really prefers taller gearing, next time ill swap it with t4 sprockets. edit: just rode the guerrilla, its more torquey, feels more powerful than the speed 400, probably is a little more powerful. sounds absolutely amazing, just the airbox sound made it amazing. suspension is quite stiff, not very compliant either, but stable.
