I don't mind the Rockville amps. I've ran into people saying they poo out real quick but the ones I've seen they mount the amps to the sub box....that's a big no-no , not a single amp that likes to be vibrated . mount your amp to a baffle and dampen it . there was a comment in here about the solder joints snapping, that happens from vibration of being mount on the sub box.
@Zack-dk3pt6 жыл бұрын
lol mine is mounted directly to the box and i've been vibrating the crap out of it for like a month now. good thing they are cheap amps so i don;t mind putting them through the ringer.
@kickkimble4175 жыл бұрын
u have a point but the main reason not to mount it on the box is heat. I use a wood bord any kind screw it to the box or where ever u find fit ..bolt the board down then use washers so when u bolt the amp down to the board it will b slightly 1 inch or half inch off the board surface which allows better air flow and allows more effect cooling..small fans will help..# rolling EMP

@@wackedoutg not a myth as i have personally repaired tons of amps that failed due to vibration damage. In fact vibration damage has been the #1 issue ive seen. A single snapped leg on the gate drain or source will usually take out several output fets which in turn presents a direct short to the power supply and about half the time the power supply burns down.....

I know this isn’t the point of the video but I have a question maybe you could answer... nobody makes a high amp alternator for my car, and even if they did throwing in a few batteries in would be MUUUCH cheaper and easier than getting a $600 alternator. How long could I run that amp on my factory alternator (140amp) with a 2nd XS battery without damaging my electrical system and without a voltage drop?? 5min? An hour? I’d literally only need it for short demo sessions with the car running... I would only run it at like 1/4 power 99% of the rest of the time.
@bigblank694 жыл бұрын
You may want to look at something like a Titan Lithium from XS.. that would help keep your electrical much more stable

Your factory alternator is 140-amp? That's pretty beefy. You could probably rewire it to get close to 280 amps out of it, but you would need a smaller pulley in order to increase its RPMs.

Edrick Mendez i have repaired many of the rockville Monoblock amplifiers and its always the same problem. If you look at the gut shot of this amplifier you will notice almost no glue at all on the output section torroid. Vibration snaps that small torroid wire going into the board very quickly and easily. The fet legs break fast also. If you buy one, glue the hell out of the torriods and run some solder up the legs of the fets and the amp will handle the vibration better and be less likely to fail. If you do what I recommend you will have a nice amp for the $. The m5 board is beffier than this board, it will do the 2000 at certified im sure, just at 1ohm instead of 2. This board is more like the m4 it only has 4 large caps the m5 has 6!

@alejandroespinoza36866 жыл бұрын
juancarlosruiz1985 Look for any amp that is CEA2006 certified. Class a/b amps are usually used for voice because of their clarity. But lately, class D amps are being made for voice. I purchased an DB Drive 4 channel class D marine amp and must say it sounds clean on my a/d/s speakers. 50 watts rms per channel is more than enough juice for any non competition vehicle. Practice safe listening.

@kenhaze52305 жыл бұрын
People making car audio systems care because car subwoofers have tiny Vas for small boxes and so are extremely inefficient. It's also a subwoofer amp. Sound quality would be impossible to discern in blind testing because slight distortion in amplitude and phase are basically impossible to hear at sub-bass frequencies.
