Just look at what other countries are doing , even the developing one's. Other nations which were also under colonial rule are today progressing at a very good pace. Cherry picking undesirable layers and keep peeling them off leaves us nothing, gives us nothing. Those layers are the Onion just like the many facets like Polytheism, Henotheism and it's associated rituals and worship practices, the dogmas, the superstitions, the doctrines and the unquestionable, unchangeable traditions, the blind subservience to authority, authority be it a God, a Guru or a revered scripture. Blind belief despite some dissonance, radical devotion and ideological notions despite visible undesirable even repugnant traits, and group identity, adherence and loyalty despite incongruence in values and character, to such an in-group is also a commonality of all religions. The spirituality that springs out of such ideas and forms of propitiation, reflection, introspection, and meditation is also part of the same in-group religion.

Later in my life I learnt the Japanese language.My approach was an allround one where I did rely on textbooks and teachers but I also consumed content in Japanese(anime,manga,manzai,tv shows,game shows) and even spoke to Japanese people which improved fluency.

As someone who went to school in the 90s and got good marks but took up commerce stream, I completely agree with you. Most people in our times took up science because they thought it had good 'scope' and not for love of science. By 'scope' they mean to make good money. Some of them but not all may have indeed ended up making money by doing a job in big companies. But as a person interested in personal finance, I can tell that many of these people have done a lousy job of managing their money too. So they studied science in which they had no interest with an objective to make money which they had no idea how to manage. So I think scientific temper and personal finance are life skills which has to be acquired through reading and learning rather than by just taking courses in school.

People want something to feel proud about their miserable selves. Be it some Muslim talking about how Allah mentioned the Big Bang long ago, or some Hindu talking about Dashavtars being evolution. Sad, really.
@yashraj_69 Жыл бұрын
Yup , not knowing that they look the dumbest people when they say some book written thousand years ago contain something about science , when most of the other practised followed by the books are completely illogical. Never seen a Muslim proudly saying look" In Quran it is written earth is flat " , nor seen any hindu (including everyone in my family) near me say look ellipse is caused by rahu and ketu and not sun and moon.

@@neilcoelho i understood your psychology by just those 2-3 lines. That's why i just replied with a single line which was the truth. I'm not religious, i discard all blind religious practices created by man in the nams of God . I'm Agonist/spiritual and i truly understand what actually God is. It is subjective and something personal. Coming to your point, it is hard to explain here by just typing. I understood the basic gist of your problem and i myself faced that most of the time in my life. Believe me your parents are not wrong, it's just that their way of conveying the point in wrong and also you are not open to learn anything beyond physical science. Science is just a tool to understand the physicality of this universe. There are spiritual aspect also which is beyond science and rather a superset of science. Im saying this after being a. Science scholar and atheist for longer time. Also, FYI I'm a successful crypto trader since 2017. I absolutely love it. You should know what you are doing , then only it will benefit you. I have made good amount by trading in it crypto (not holding). Amazing content like always. Although i disagree on the fact that pseudo science and conspiracy theories are prevalent only in india. In one of the surveys, it was found that around 40 % of US population don't think theory of evolution by Darwin is true. Paraphrasing Yuval from Sapiens- We are great story tellers and it's in our instinct to be moved by conspiracy theories and pseudoscience because it is simple for our brain to link patterns rather than understand complex mathematical inevitability (in case of evolution by natural selection)

Beer biceps is smart enough tailor his content to suit the current mood of the nation. Anything that’s peddled in name past cultural greatness is well received. We Indians seem to be so insecure and unsure about our present and future that’s why we want to take comfort in false past glory. And pin all of our current problems are due to outside influences . Truth is harsh and bitter and we want avoid it. It sad to see most of these contents are targeted towards India’s most backward parts and unfortunately it keeps them further away from socio economic growth.

See we can uplift the culture in a healthy way and it's a good thing - the stories, legends, arts, history etc . But I don't like the fact of mixing science or even comparing with science .. because both are unique in their way .. what we're seeing now is just pure communal politics and that's what everyone has to question
@sr1549 Жыл бұрын
You made such a good point Pranav about people not developing a scientific temper because of lack of wanting to learn and just scrambling to get the highest marks in school. Thats the reason we see highly educated people in India being unreasonably religious and following rituals that do not make any sense... Not to mention astrology...
@Pantheist2602 Жыл бұрын
You want development or break culture ? There are countries who still follow their roots but has made significant developments in sectors .. the thing he said about educational mindset is spot on but it comes mainly with materialistic mindset not the religious one as religion is not mostly about making money .. he manipulates the fact by saying lack of interest in science is due to personal belief? Like wtf .. why can't people just use the same eager to watch some random KZbinrs videos instead to learn what's in their books .. this was the message of '3 idiots' movie but it mainly comes with pop culture where one who's studious is shown as boring, uncool and most of the time cringey ...

@@Pantheist2602 Why would culture break if people develop a scientific temper?🤔 Pranav is talking about science not materialism...
@Pantheist2602 Жыл бұрын
@@sr1549 I'm saying about the fact that he talked about educational mindset of valueing 'marks over Knowledge'.. this is not just in the case of science subject ..... like such a kind of thought comes when you believe education is all just about building a career .. something which we have to deal with our thought process rather than questioning a system .. religion has nothing to do with it (according to me it more develops a good learning skill by reading the sacred or holy books).. scientific temper is necessary to be developed in a society, for it's development and progress but being religious or culturally rooted has nothing to do with it .. I am not of opinion merging science with every religious claims is tolerable .. but the point pranav tries to make in this video is just the usual atheist argument that "if you're religious, you're illogical " it doesn't have to be right everytime
@sr1549 Жыл бұрын
@@Pantheist2602 I dont think he ever said if you are religious you are illogical.. The point he is trying to make is religion does not promote scientific enquiry because it makes humongous claims for which it doesn't provide proof. We should definitely be reading religious texts but just because its religious, we shouldn't exclude it from scientific enquiry and question it before taking it on face value because as you rightly mentioned its not about just building careers or about the subject of "science"...
