This is why scientific study is so important. Religions and practices (like yoga) make plenty of assertions (especially related to increased wellbeing or even enlightenment), but unless we can provide evidence that they are actually good for the body/mind complex (in a measurable way), it's pointless wasting years on such practices. Unfortunately, most studies in this space are typically done by people who are already convinced the yogic practices are good for you. That is not how science should be done. P.s.: I'm not asserting yogic practices aren't good for us, just that scientific evidence (gathered using proper scientific method) should trump any assertions made by people peddling these practices.

17:37 you also need a third group with meditation but no program (no hikes, no nature walks, no diet control) - i.e. people doing the Shambhavi Mudra in their daily lives at home. This will be useful if it so happens the Shambhavi Mudra is actually effective - it will show up in the results on a normal day in your life. All groups must have subgroups of people who have A. never done the practice, B. just started the practice in the past few weeks and C. have been doing the practice for a long time. Having designed the study as such with 9 sets of subgroups, we must also measure and compare the effects on all these 9 subgroups. Further variation and sub-grouping is needed in case you want to study the effects of each individual factor such as diet, nature exposure, living in a retreat, medical history, etc.

A better control group would be one in the peaceful semi rural environments vs one in urban environments. Both the groups receive the full course but one in rural Tennessee vs. one in Urban New York. Usually, everything seems fine and dandy at the Ashram. It is about being high functioning adults even in extreme stress. I am not even saying keep the 2nd control group in places like Delhi, Shanghai, Hong Kong, or Tokyo, just a moderately stressful place like New York. Heck, i would have another test. Say both study groups in New York one received the course, and the other did not and periodically follow them for 1 month 3 and 12 and measure their bio markers.

Western knowledge is built upon the stolen knowledge from Indian, and Arabic scriptures. They totally suppressed it's origins and claimed as their own. They also brainwashed and branded the original sources are dogmatic and groomed doubt and hatred among the ethnic people through their crooked logical skills. Leftist thinkers aided this strategy further and destroyed the entire roots and faith of the ethnic sources and the mindsets this present video by Praveen is one of such kind, which is more vicious intended to create all doubts on the ancient science of India. Western world is totally a corrupt, deceptive and built on loot, murder and plunder, they claimed superiority over the rest of the world through their wicked, monstrous ways to grab others lands and own them as slaves , destroy their cultures, own their knowledge, etc. By the doctrine of discovery, they shared all rest of the world for loot and genocide the ethnic groups and their land, property and knowledge. I really like your videos. In a certain period i really totaly dived into this sadhguru universe and did the practices, visited the ashram, read his books. Now I only continued doing one practice and that a little half heartedly. I must say that I still don't think they take a lot of money for their courses and there are no attachments which put pressure on you. People leave you alone and you can involve however much you want without anyone commenting on it. Not the typical "cult" environment. I still feel like I got into all this while being in a crisis and now that i figured a new way of managing myself and additionaly started studying a scientific subject. I am becoming more ciritcal in my thinking and try to reevaluate this whole thing. Back when i listened to all his advice and followed it, did my yoga, took care of my diet the way he says, i really must say I had times of great feelings of depth and joy. However I really can't ignore all the arguments of yours and remember how i had many logical conflicts with what he was saying before, but just had the trial and error approach, so I kind of put my conflicts aside. I am really interested in mental health and health in general, due to struggling with it myself and seeing many people struggling with it. This is a core interest why I and many others follow people like sadhguru I think. The search for wellbeing. So maybe that is a question which you could try to start covering as well. Dear Pranav, Firstly, kudos for making such a beautiful video on the topic. Sadhguru's videos helped me a lot during the hard times that I had during the pandemic. I never used to question any of his claims until I started watching your channel and I'm so glad that I have. Afterwards, I was able to listen to Sadhguru in a whole different light which I have to admit did shatter a lot of my belief systems at the time. Born and brought up in a Hindu family in Kerala, religion always played a big factor in my life which eventually attracted me to the domain of spiritual practices. A few months after discovering your channel I finally decided to try Inner Engineering for myself since I was facing some personal issues which could be solved by the program. As I'm writing this comment, I have to admit that I definitely have felt a change in my life after Inner Engineering. Doing the meditation once a day eventually helped me solve the biggest issue that I had faced in my life - sleep. I have tried the advice of healthcare professionals, I have tried going to sleep surrounded by two or three alarms but was never able to wake up listening to the alarms I set. If anything my mother would come busting my room door from downstairs hearing my alarm ring. But after practising Shambhavi I have been able to get up listening to the alarm that I set on my phone. I should also note that I have been able to wake up in this manner when I used to practice Surya Namaskar a few years back. Another effect that I would like to add would be my emotions. I, like many other kids of my age, grew up seeing and sometimes being the dark side of human society. I have been the bully at one point and have been bullied during another point in time. It was a very difficult time and I remember crying a lot. I usually connect it to those events, but unlike seeing fictional characters experiencing a difficult childhood, it was very difficult for me to experience sadness. I couldn't get sad when I mentally know that I should be very sad at that moment. It was very difficult for me to cry, which is very uncomfortable when you add it to this blocked-sadness sort of situation. These days, I end up crying for the silliest reasons. I went to a temple last week and I couldn't stop crying looking at the vigraham inside the sanctum. I end up crying seeing someone standing on the street with a gloomy face. I don't know how to explain these experiences that I am having. Finally, I would also like to add that there is an ever-present calmness and peace within me these days. I do miss the practices on some days, but it still doesn't change my newfound calmness. Indian Mysticism has always been a wonder for me. Why are there repeated mentions of "prana" and chakras throughout the literatures even when there is not a trace of anything remotely similar that we can observe physically in the human body? Why do our emotions and consciousness change just by practicing yogasanas? A large part of it is very difficult to be explained using the tools of physical science that we possess. But I believe that does not mean all is false. To say so would be to shun the lives of the people like Adi Sankaracharya, Swami Vivekananda, and Shri Ramana Maharshi who lived and passed in very recent history. I do understand that I am making an extraordinary claim here, but my belief is that the world that we live in is not entirely physical and therefore cannot be entirely explained using physical science. I believe there exist other parts to life than what we can perceive. I obviously don't have a proof to back this up and it can be very easily deflected. I think I would love to hear your thoughts on the topic someday over a cup of coffee, haha. Having been positively affected by Shambhavi, I thought I should leave a comment about it over here. Even if it's not the teachings of Sadhguru, I strongly advocate that everyone should practice some sort of meditation in their daily life as it really helps. Again, more power to you Pranav. Your work definitely helps people develop the ever-needed scientific and critical thinking skills. Have a good one.

Brother one thing I have found out in my life was this. Radical scepticism is needed to find out the truth. But if you use scepticism to not get involved in something, you have died a little bit, you have denied an opportunity to explore, by forming a preconceived opinion. If you really want to find out what Sadhguru and Isha is all about, go to Isha Yoga Center, do some programs, remain 100% sceptical throughout. Then you will have made good use of your intellect. If you use your intellect to remain in your bubble of comfort and defend it by judging everything negatively that threatens it, you can never ever grow. Because something makes logical sense, doesn't mean it's true. You can come up with a perfectly logical argument for anything. Only your own experiece can tell you if something is really true or not. Scepticism is a filter for experience, but can't replace experience as a means to explore new ground. Best wishes to you.

I have seen multiple people who have changed their lives amazingly after going through Isha's programmes, and I have seen people ignoring their practises and getting nothing out of it. What I understood was that, just like any educational institution, different kinds of students have different levels of focus and dedication to the work they are putting in, and the result is directly proportional to the effort they put in. In the same way, there are people going through this who are experiencing immense improvement in their lives, and there are others who just stay the same. You cannot conclude anything here, really. I, being an atheist, got myself out of a mental phase where I had to consult a psychriatrist, but I chose to go to the Inner Engineering programme because of its practice, which takes 20 minutes a day. I even couldn't believe this was possible. But it is for those who put in the effort.

@@sa_ra2496 Don't go by my words, you need to see it to believe it. If you take everything as placebo, someone might claim anxiety and depression in the same way, and the whole section of society will go crazy over it. You can argue whatever you want, but you don't need to believe anything on the internet just like that. Science has come a long way in discovering and understanding many things about our world, but there are still some things that it has yet to prove or fully comprehend. As humans, we often have a tendency to dismiss things that we cannot see or prove. However, it's important to keep an open mind and not disregard something just because it hasn't been scientifically proven yet. For example, the idea of placebo effects is something that has been debated for years. While some may argue that it's simply a psychological phenomenon, others believe that there is a deeper, unexplainable power at play. It's important to recognize that just because something cannot be explained or proven by science at this point in time, doesn't mean it's not real. Quantum mechanics and genetics are two areas of science that have seen incredible advancements in the past century. However, prior to this time period, humans had no idea about the theories behind these subjects. It's important to keep in mind that there may be many other phenomena or concepts that we have yet to discover or understand. Just because science hasn't discovered or proven something yet, doesn't mean it's not worth considering. It's important to keep an open mind and continue to explore and question the world around us. Who knows what discoveries we may make in the future that will shed light on things we previously didn't understand or thought were impossible.

@@pauldirc..some famous scientists explain or quote (Indian old scripture, vedas, gita) on other sence. Yes there may be some lines(scripture) which can help you to think in another way. But there is no relation between their (scientists )theory and the scripture of hinduism. Nowadays students and people are manipulated and think that all science comes from vedas . So they are trying to justify scriptures as scientific books.
