Celebrity Big Brother UK 2013 - Day 5

I'm from Canada and used to watch the U.S version of bb, then one day I started watching the UK version, and I thought it was fantastic. Much more of a reality show, and not edited like in the US. The best part of the UK is that it's basically the housemates VS BB and not a big drama-fest of the housemates hating everyone in an effort to win. I never went back to the US version after watching the UK. I even enjoy the Australian one equally to the UK.

Team HEIDI AND SPENCER..GO SPEIDI!..Unless you've watched and no the history of "The Hills" you don't know HEIDI and Spencer. They were kids when their reality show aired and it was a groundbreaking show. Spencer and Heidi described it best by saying it was real at first like all other shows and then they scripted it and basically cast characters which Spencer was the villain. We had not seen reality this scripted and had first known them as real so imagine ppl bought in although it was cheesy as a high school musical. Heidi is a sweetheart and people really disliked her because of Spencer's persona and what they scripted him to do, it was soap opera worthy. Hollyweird continued to exploit these young people after ruining their lives and made it impossible for them to be average people. Spencer is very intelligent and a stand up guy and proved them wrong about him really loving Heidi. I'm a reasonable and intelligent person and I know the real and unreal of reality TV so I get the whole producers doing extreme things to get good TV. Heidi and Spencer learned the hard way and at a very young age exactly how things work which is why Spencer is slightly cynical about the whole process. People love to hate especially when it's being thrust in your face everyday for decades, you'd think people would get that by now..#grainofsaltwithyourtea

i think its a result of the kind of work they do. they're constantly praised and they themselves are the product they sell, so they are used to sort of bragging to be liked, to be paid. She's not that bad, and you can see she's human when she gets so embarrassed by being chosen. she's a normal person

paula really frustrated me so bad!!! it wasnt big brother that sabotaged her experience. it is her attitude towards people, the way she spoke with others, the fact she wanted the show to launch her line (fashion or beauty i presume) and the fact she thought she was superior to others.

Spencer is weird in that he tries to come across as having a sense of humor, but his sarcasm fails miserably every time, instead he comes across as an insensitive jerk. If someone were to see through that for once and gave him some positive attention I think he'd turn into a completely different guy.

I hate to say it and I know I've mentioned this before, but I agree with Spencer 100% when it comes to nominations. It doesn't get more ridiculous than leaving the diary room crying over having to nominate. That's like crying when you own Boardwalk with hotels, someone lands on it, and has to pay you. It's a game. You knew the rules. Grow up and play it.

I agree that some of the twists sucked, all I'm saying I like they way they're allowed to play the game: having an HoH, PoV comps, forming alliances,all the backstabbing etc. It just makes it a more interesting and exciting game as it changes from week to week, and one competition can turn everything on its head.

The first one to go always feels horrible but Paula is already, because she is a "highly intelligent woman", worked out that she will be the one, well they have all figured that one out and they aren't all that intelligent. She has sabotaged herself with her peculiar conversations, so not BB's fault just her own constant babble, I think she is lovely but definitely odd.

I'm from Ireland and I've watched both the UK and US BB and I have to say the US one is so much better!! No you can't talk about the game in this one, you get punished if you do, and it doesn't make sense. The reason I love the US one is because you're allowed to scheme and back stab and have alliances, it makes it much more fun to watch!

The British version is equally entertaining from week to week; it's only because it airs everyday that sometimes it can seem boring. Yes, C5 hasn't really done a great job like C4 used to, but at least there's previous series that are available on YT. :) When I get tired of C5's BB, I tune into BB5UK; the twists and general evil that BB imposed on the housemates was riveting TV. Who could forget Fight Night? :D

It's too bad that Speidi have to be 'sold as a set' - if they've never been apart longer than a bathroom break presumably if separated their heads would explode or something. Spencer is charmless but it'd be neat to see if Heidi's sweetness goes all the way through. Paula has been a disappointment but I agree - good TV. I think Frankie's cute too - short, dark & handsome - but he may go simply because he's not making drama.

Aaron I can agree with you on that, and just on that. Honestly, I didn't like any of the housemates on BB12. But as for Nadia and Luke, I loved them both. Especially Nadia. Brian's not a great host (despite Davina trying her hardest to support him, lol), but he was a great housemate.

They talk about their lives outside of the house. They do talk about each other, they're just mot allowed to talk about who they're nominating or nominated. Sometimes BB does let them talk about it for a limited time. Last year there was a couple of live face to face nominations. Basically the most popular (funny, genuine, doesn't annoy others)gets to the final because they usually wouldn't be up for eviction. but the public votes, and who's popular in the house might not be who the public like.

Because the public ultimately decide the fate of everyone's stay in the house, anyone who is seen as scheming might be perceived by the public as fake or have a gameplan. Viewers like people who are outgoing and display their genuine personality. The host of the show (Brian Dowling) won Big Brother twice because of his bubbly, outgoing, and charismatic personality.
