Hank Jr is one of the very few individuals in history who was able to live up to mighty expectations and break away from his father’s shadow. Time after time the son of an icon just fails and is forgotten. Not just in music but in sports, film, politics etc. He proved what he could do and in the process rid himself of that heavy pressure. Jr has put out multiple high quality albums and he’s got one of the best voices of all time for country. The first time I heard him I just shook my head at how good it was. For this I commend him and he deserves all of the appraisal.

I learned how to talk listening to Hank Jr and Waylon Jennings. We once went and took a tour of the house in Nashville. We couldn't go upstairs because someone from the family was staying there - but we got to see everything else. A few of years later, we drove by the house ... at the same time "A Country Boy Can Survive" came out. There was a Rolls Royce and about 5 Caddies in the driveway. A Country Boy Can Indeed Survive :)
