When I was about 17, my dad took me to a Robert Earl Keen show. Shooter Jennings opened, Hank 3 middled, and Keen closed it out. Before and after their respective sets, the entirety of the lineup mingled with the crowd, bought people drinks, lit up doinks and passed them around. To this day, best concert I’ve ever been to hands down. Saw him 3 different times in Jacksonville Beach Florida at what was at the time The Free Bird Cafe. Ronnie Van Zant' widow Opened up. Great venue for Live music. Anyhow, 3 unbelievable shows every time. The last show he came off stage & came straight to me, my girlfriend & her cousin. Said we were rocking out harder than anyone else in the crowd & had to come holler. He bought us drinks and I bought him some in return. I commented on his drummer reminding me so much of Animal from the Muppets with the wild hair and badass drumming. He thanked me and said damn Man you're right & then calling his drummer over & I told em I had some badass Bud & some Killer Moonshine which I did & then we retired to his tourbus and proceeded TO GET LIVE!!!! Literally one of the absolute hands down best nights of my entire life!!! It was just amazing. We talked music, guitars and amps, fiddles and just had a really great time. Stayed with him about 3 whole hours and he was genuinely unhappy when we had to go & he had to get on the road. I'll never forget that he insisted on us calling him Shelton and we introduced ourselves to him once inside the club when he first came to us and started talking to us and he called us by name the entire time on the tourbus and never once asked what was y'all's names again or anything like that. He was just a genuinely nice really really great dude. I made it a point to let him know that I had met Kid Rock a couple of times because of my friendship with Gary Rossington of Lynyrd Skynyrd and he said F#@k Kid Rock!!! Inside stage at Stubb's, Austin, Texas circa 2001... Misfits minus Glen Danzig were playing across town. He does a great country set and then says that ain't the misfits! Rips through 30 minutes of misfits covers to end it. I'll never forget.

Good accurate rockumentary. I've been to a few Hank II shows around 2012-2014, and it's true, I watched him play 4 hours straight, as the centre piece for three different bands. As soon as the last song was over, all the musicians walked off the stage, while Hank walked up to the edge, sat down, and motioned for everyone to come up and get an autograph and a pic. I've been saying it for over a decade now; Hardest working man in the music industry. Hands down.

Now, THIS is a country star I'd be excited to meet. I've opened for a lot of people, but I'd pay to see Mr Williams III.

I love this dude just because he clearly has Hank senior in him.
