Thank you so much! I am a 66 yr old grandmother on a SS income working for my rent (who had some knowledge of "older cars", and used to fix my own cars), but because of modern technology it makes it harder and harder, and your video "hit the mark" - was able to to it and saved the labor fees of possibly over $400! This car was a gift to me from my church so I could continue doing my caretaking for my rent (2005 Honda Accord EX) - God bless you! And thank you again!

Just because the blower motor isn't turning doesn't mean that it's bad!!! I had the same problem with my car. I decided to test my blower motor by hooking two wires from my car battery (one on the negative one on the positive) to the two posts on the blower motor. The blower motor still works!!! It's the RESISTER!! Saved me over $105.. Always check everything!!

This was just a replacement video (I have diagnostic videos on blower motors), but I always recommend testing before replacing. A simple test light and jumper wires (or a PowerProbe) can give direction pretty quickly. Thanks for the input.

Today I installed an aftermarket blower motor and resistor both purchased from Amazon into a 2013 Honda CR-V. Honda has discontinued these parts for my model year probably because their ten year parts commitment is done. I had to remove a corner piece of the duct to access the resistor. The job was pretty straightforward and everything is working well.

Thankyou so much for this. $45 for the blower on Amazon, about 30min of crunching and twisting myself into tight spaces into poses my body wasn't happy about. But I'm sure this saved me a pretty penny.

I own 2 Accords, 2006 400K miles and a 2007 270K miles and I replace cabin filters 3 times a year for each one of them. I live in the North East and we have different kinds of tree leaves that make their way to the filter. Since the airflow goes down, the cabin filter catches more debris comparing to engine air filter. I always have my vacuum cleaner ready in case the cabin filter is stuffed and the debris falls down in the blower.

Quick question, this is a great overview....after troubleshooting it was definitely a blend door issue so once that was fixed I do get hot and cold on either side when I adjust controls. Air filter is replaced, resistor is replaced, fuses are fine, and the fan is working as expected, it adjusts speed correctly. Yet the air doesn't seem to blast out as it should and there is no air through the middle vents. I did recently needed to have my heater valve replaced as a hose ruptured and was spraying coolant in side the engine if that is relevant. If you have any suggestions great, have a great holiday and thank you for all the great information and guidance on this channel. It has saved me a lot of money.

Nice video. You tested the transistor and it seems to be working fine. You should just leave it. It either works or it doesn't. It is not a wear item. When my blower motor was worn, it placed a heavy load on the speed control module. As a result, it heated it up and burned the thermal fuse. I just opened it up and replaced the thermal fuse inside. It also burned the fuse in the engine compartment. Transistor works differently than a resistor. The transistor turns off and on (PWM) to reduce the blower speed. It does not bleed it as heat. The heat is produced from the inefficiency of turning it off and on. A resistor resists the flow of electricity and radiates it as heat.
@BigDog50001
@BigDog50001 4 жыл бұрын
The transistor works hand in hand with the blower motor to control the speed, not only do the controls wires go into the transistor but so do the blower motor power wires. I have seen too many times where a bad transistor looks like it is functioning properly but has damaged the motor and if you only replace the motor it will go out again very quickly after replacing it. This is why I typically replace both at the same time. And it certainly does generate heat when it is doing its job, a lot of it, which is why that heat needs to go somewhere (bled off into the air stream). Heat is energy and if the energy (in the case battery voltage at the blower motor) isn't being used by the blower motor (when it is turning at a lower speed) then it needs to go somewhere.

Hi there.. I just bought a Honda accord diesel estate MK 7 2005 ) steering wheel on the right hand side!!). I noticed that the pax side heating works properly in all modes but the driver's side gives some very light heating (nothing compare to the pax side). I did the following: Hot water valve (engine compartment) removed, checked and refitted... works properly Both actuators removed check and refitted.. both work properly. The groove of the driver's side actuator (the problem side) was also tested manually, from what I can hear the flap connected works properly too but engaging the groove manually (without the actuator refitted).. doesn't solve the issue!! Any ideas as to why is happening this? thanks

I was watching another video of a guy replacing the Resistor only in a newer car but still and older vehicle maybe about 2006. It was funny in the video it showed so much space that he did not have to use the small screw driver. What I found out after dropping the panel that you need to is that the car has a side panel that he seems to have removed but did not state this in the video. I guess it has some screws and not sure what kind to remove this. I was so surprised and freaked out when I saw how mine was. I still have yet to replace mine but I did buy the parts. One they have a newer part for the Resistor that has the heart now and which has a 3 year warranty. That one says it is better then OEM but not how. At least the one you suggested states how. For my car it will go for weeks blowing nice cool air and then stop and some times will start again when I get the car at highway speeds it will start to blow cool air all over again. It has kept me from replacing the parts but now it is getting very hot out so know I will need to replace them soon.

Glad to hear you recommend TYC as I've had good experience with their headlight assemblies (on Hondas) plus they're half the price as OEM. Just curious, it appears that Honda superseded the blower motor/fan in 2013 but not sure what changed other than the wiring connector. Honda says the original p/n was 79311-tr6-a71 but superseded by 80030-TR0-305. Many sites say to match connectors. Have you ran into the "wrong" connector ?
@BigDog50001
@BigDog50001 3 жыл бұрын
Superseded parts can mean Honda updated the part to perform better or to save costs (among other things), or it can be a new parts manufacturer was selected to make the part (many times this is the case), but the specs and wiring connections should not really change as far as fitment on vehicle. Trim levels, country where it was manufactured, coupes and sedans can all have different parts numbers (and wiring connections) and that is where aftermarket parts makers/sellers sometimes get it wrong and it can cause confusion.
@HallStevenson
@HallStevenson 3 жыл бұрын
@@BigDog50001 I found the blower fan (TYC) on Amazon and ordered it before checking the connection knowing returning it through them would be easier if I had to. In this case, the connector TYC shows matches the car so I should be good.

Thanks for the video. So many places charge a ton for this. I know my Honda dealer wanted $681 but believe that includes parts. I even called Pep Boys and they wanted I think $400 for parts and nearly close to $600 with replacing it. I see parts so much cheaper on the site you suggested. They do not have the part for the back of the assembly but might sell it separately as I do not know. It is amazing how much money places want for this. I would still have it done though as though it looks simple I would still want some one else doing it. I do not have much patience so would probably break a few items along the way.
