If you have the Windows No Editor version of the game up then it means that, if I remember correctly, the server data should be in your build of the game, which means you should be able to start up your own server and client on the same machine and connect to the server using launch parameters when launching the client. Clearly they didn't even package the game properly.

Why do people always think assets are stolen? I mean maybe not you as you put stolen in quotation marks, but buying assets to use in a project, hell, even if it's a complete asset flip, doesn't make it stolen as obviously you are paying for it, buying assets is a perfectly okay thing to do and people like BigFry makes it sound like it's a bad thing...but obviously there comes a point where too much is bad, and thats probably around the 25% mark. There are exceptions to 25% rule even, I know a few game developers that buy almost all their graphics assets but they keep their games small enough in scope that the constraints of buying assets doesn't really show and it doesn't degrade the end product at all - but thats a problem with these shitty devs, their project scope is waaaaay too big and above their competence, thats why they end up like this garbage game. Some of these shitty projects that BigFry showcase might steal but i think most people buy them, they just have their head in their asses and are shit at project management, because if you plan to sell a game you might aswell buy the assets just avoid any legal action.

Oh my. I absolutely love opening UE4 and just create things. I mostly practice and learn things on free assets. Read a lot of UE4 documents (tutorials) and go on youtube for more tutorials. I am slowly getting ready to develop a game on my own and ofcourse I would have to rely heavily on marketplace assets, since I have no experience in 3d modelling or animations. But damn, looking at some of the games you reviewed....I could never do that, ever. I want to make a simple, enjoyable game. Hey, maybe even earn a few bucks...but the main reason is passion. I don't want to scam people, I don't want early access bullshit or any of that. I sincerely hope, if I ever finish a game and release it...it won't end up here haha.

Accuracy its not only learning to code, you have to know so much things when you are alone (level design, 3d modelling, music and sounds, cosing, animation, optimisation, shaders, and a lot more). This game has a lot of potential, the level design is actually good. After 6 years of learning i can assure you that it is not as easy as you think

But coding is not all it takes to make a game, i thought when i was younger that if i know how to code i could make my own video game but then i realised that i didnt know anything about level design and that all my assets were the same as 90% of indie games because they were the assets of the assets store. (when i play unity games like slender i find some assets that i put myself in my videos games.). But yeah not knowing how to code and trying to make a video game is a fkg bad idea

What was wrong with the walking other than it probably was an included animation? Looks good, reminds me of Sam Fisher for some reason. Unless your a big studio with mocap gear your probably going to be buying/using some animations unless you also have an animator on the team. All studios use assets, even EA use some really common plants. Game probably is bad though, but time will tell on that one. Edit, just seen the date, wonder how the game has progressed now.

A true “other life” game would take so much work and money that most AAA companies wouldn’t be able to tackle it, let alone these garbage scams. What would be truly awesome is a company creating a very strong base for other studios to add their “modules” to, with these modules being whole entire games that can be accessed through the main world. That way you get an always expanding universe within the same game, that wouldn’t take decades to develop.

This is why I refuse to support Valve's Early Access program and don't buy games from Valve in general if I can dodge it any way possible. It's a blind trust system (or as you put it, bullshit) and the consumer almost always gets screwed in the end. It's gotten way worse over the years too as consumers keep normalising the lacking laws and regulations that aren't there to protect consumers from scams like this. Valve wins and the businesses (scams) win and in the end, the consumer might or might not get a complete product in a respectable time frame. Early Access - the blind trust system that keeps the money rolling into the bank.

Not an AAA game company creates a game : *It's a scam* I try to do a mod for FarCry 1 and to make the landscape with textures took me months and sure did i used free textures from the internet becouse i dont have a 5k camera to do over the top hd pictures of sand. It's hard to learn 3ds max to create models and i dont want to begin to talk about animations and rigging. At least the ones that seem like they were made of people who don't speak English well but are marketing it to people who are native English speakers. Just play ARMA RP people, I have never gotten into it, but it looks better than all of these EA games, and it works from the few times I tried it.
