Exactly this. Don’t look at “the team” don’t listen to what they tell you the “potential” is. Look at how the business operates, look at the product they have now, look at their competitors and their products. No one throwing their money around seems to want to look at the competitors. Epic games, EVE, Second Life RuneScape, even Roblox and VR Chat. These are who they will go up against if they want their virtual plots of land to be visited by anyone. These are the people who already have done the legwork and have the infrastructure in place for virtual plots of land to have value. If E2 wants to beat out the competition, they must be able to first catch up. And as of yet, I do not believe that they have provided any evidence that they are capable of doing so. As we all know, their plots of land are worthless unless people are willing to visit them. They can’t be developed and they do not have the security to be used as currency. E2 has not convinced me that they can give these virtual plots of land value.

They always want to ignore it, say that those games are old so of course they cant be Ready Player One+The Matrix like Earth 2 will be.... When really those games are being updated with current tech, and even with no where near earth sized worlds people struggle to get other players to visit their parcel of virtual land. Because once the novelty of hanging out in virtual space wears off, human beings are not NPCs, they don't want to just hang around and spend money in one digital place for no reason.

BTW the kid doesn't realize that there's generally two types of fog in a game. There's distance fog, and a fog special effect. Distance fog is a post processing effect that makes objects further away from the camera blend with the sky color, the other is a visual effect designed to enhance the atmosphere of a scene, by using a particle effect, or volumetrics. The latter is rarely used to obscure details for improved rendering performance. It's actually quite expensive in most cases. What he's thinking of is distance fog, but assumes any kind of fog he sees is a "trick" to improve performance. The Earth2 trailer does, in fact, use distance fog. Almost every game that has large outdoor areas uses it, because it's a cheap way to simulate depth. The Earthland trailer appears to be using both, and the VFX fog is a nice touch for such a hastily assembled project.

They're part of the scam, since they got in early and are near the top of the pyramid. As long as the user-base is growing, they'll keep making money, so they're invested in defending this 'game'. But at some point in time new users and their wallets will dry up and they'll stop making money, since their 'profits' are funded by the fresh incoming money from new users. At that point the scheme starts to collapse, the creator of the scheme locks down all withdrawals and bails with the cash. It's a Ponzi scheme specifically, since the top guy actually pays out the early 'investors' at first. But the payouts are funded by incoming 'late investors'. Ponzi schemes rely on constant flow of new money to survive. When it becomes hard to recruit new investors, or when large numbers of existing investors cash out, these schemes tend to collapse. As a result, most investors end up losing all or much of the money they invested. In some cases, the operator of the scheme may simply disappear with the money.

It is absolutely mind blowing to me that these guys fail to realize that just because there is real money being traded on a platform, that doesn't mean the promised video game of Earth 2 will be released. Nobody in the gaming community is debating whether or not people can make money off of this Earth 2 project/platform. What MOST people in the gaming community have a problem with, is the fact that a video game is being promised, and paid for, with little to no proof of concept released. Adding to that the fact that the video game is promising VR/AR capabilities and integrations, but shows no promise of achieving that level of development. Using a supply chain and re-drawing it to fit inside of a Pyramid Scheme or MLM diagram does not make it a MLM plan. It's misrepresenting a flow of commerce and spinning it to fill your own definitions. The reason the Mona Lisa isn't a scam, or real estate properties, or art in general (despite variance in valuation which he failed to mention), is because all of these are items and objects already produced, developed, and manufactured. Earth 2 is not produced, developed, or manufactured, and almost every supporter of this project seems to be more of a 1st round investor who've bought in on the Ponzi Scheme rather than gamers who actually expect to have a fully functional video game by the time this is all said and done. Absolutely wild.

Not really. Earth2 isn't actually a video game. I think it's dumb to sell virtual land in a video game for real money, but if the video game were real, it would at least be something, . The tiles in Earth2 don't have any value, just the empty promise that one day they will have value. Value that is supposed to come from ties to a video game that's impossible to make, because it has no clear vision, and an infinite scope.

I actually disagree with his diagram, its just fucking wrong. 1. The money doesn't go up, there is a singular transaction between a retailer and a manufacturer. None of the money that the retailer makes from selling the manufacturers product goes back to the manufacturer, the manufacturer only makes money on the transaction between them and the retailer. 2. A retailer is buying products from dozens, hundreds, or thousands of manufacturers often enough those manufacturers are competing with one another. Ultimately the money that a retailer makes has nothing to do with the money that a manufacturer makes, they are two separate transactions and each of these companies is operating independently. Not to mention that customers aren't the ones making money off of products they purchase from retailers, they are getting the value from using the product they purchased, not from them being sold a "Business opportunity " like in a MLM scheme implies. This guy has obviously never taken a econ 101 class, and if he did it looks like he missed the first class.
