having hunted all types of ranches, ranging from the King and Kennedy Ranches to 40 acres in Waller, Texas and pretty much everything in between. Shooting huge, well known, often seen on trail camera bucks on some huge ranches and particularly high-fenced ranches, lacks the same thrill, IMHO, as shooting a totally fair chase trophy on a 4,000 to 5000 ac low fence ranch in an area of heavy hunting pressure. There's a reason my most favorite shoulder mounts were from smaller, low-fenced ranches off of very competitive, high pressured areas of south texas, and one had never been seen on any hunters trail cam on our lease and the other I shot a year after he was seen once on a trail cam. The sense of accomplishment and achievement involved in getting such bucks seems much greater than those I shot on the Kennedy, KIng, Vogt ranches. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed the experience of hunting those big, storied ranches, but most of my huntiing buddies all feel the same way.
