As a side note. I would love for her to do a new series delving into the specifics of how to do specific styles for each body type. For example, goth, boho, elegant, punk, and so on specifically for each body type. I think many people would love specific advice. Personally as a TR it was very challenging to figure out how to do casual looks without it looking crap because it was too simple. It feels like you always need accessories to save simple outfits.
@lauraceballos92173 жыл бұрын
I'm also a TR, and I gained weight during the Pandemic. My mother in law gave me a long turtle neck poncho, with embroidered flowers, which is nice, thinking it would help to hide my belly or something, but I just look so heavy... 20 kilos heavier.
@linibellini3 жыл бұрын
Fully agree! My face has a lot of sharp lines and just judging by that and with the sharper shoulders I would look awesome in dramatic clothes. And I so wish I did! But every time I put on a longer or plain top I look so weirdly shaped. My curves just poke through the fabric as weird surprises that make no sense. Or I just look like 10 years older, 10 kilos heavier! I got some fun belts that should look tacky or over the top on most people (green alligator print, full metal gold and silver belt) and surprisingly they often save my outfits! Even a plain dress that has no details and no waist emphasis can become wearable with a belt like that wrapped around my waist. Same goes for handbags. I like cleaner lines but I always make sure to go for small bags with either a golden chain, embellishment or tassel detail. My boyfriend usually finds my bag choices too much / tacky looking but once I put them on it looks classy and like just the right amount of detail (or sometimes even still understated). So funny how that works!

As a theatrical romantic (and I guess this would go for all romantics) waist emphasis is EVERYTHING! usually we have full chest and wide hips, so without our waist emphasis we just look like boxes 😅😅 but that can be a statement in itself and it is good to make informed decisions ❤️ Also, does anyone have a fashion suggestion for those days we are bloated and the waist emphasis unfortunately emphasises also the belly? I have a special request. I'm a theatrical romantic, and it seems to me that there are not many good examples of casual looks for romantic or theatrical romantics. I really struggle to apply the kibbie principles for my shape to casual wear. Could you do a video on casual, everyday outfits for romantic and theatrical romantics? It seems like out of all the body shapes ours are the least able to throw on a pair of jeans and pair it with a simple top!
@il57023 жыл бұрын
As a TR myself, I often wear this casual combo you're describing under the following conditions: the jeans are actually thin and stretchy jeggins, they accentuate the curves, nothing bulky, super high waist, super narrow at the ankles + the top is simple yet it has at least a few of those textbook TR elements such as a delicate metallic thread in the fabric, or spaghetti straps / delicate sleeves with shoulder cut-outs rather than typical t-shirt sleeves that are just way too bulky for us. How bout that? ;)
@linibellini3 жыл бұрын
I'm a TR too and my standard jeans and t-shirt look is a pair of black skinny jeans or cropped (!) mom jeans with either heels or flat sandals, paired with a silky strappy top slightly tucked in at the front. Or thin linen fabric T-shirts work great too. With those I get some that have rolled up sleeves and aren't too wide or long. The shoulders must sit well. For summer I love wearing an A -line skirt that emphasises the waist with a blouse or shirt tucked in. I have these skirts that are of a stiffer, crisp but thin cotton with some gathering around the waist and a loosely tied belt of the same material and I love pairing that with a softer, more relaxed fabric for the top. Another summer favourite are high waist, wide leg cropped pants made from thin material with a top or shirt tucked in and a detailed / glamorous looking waist belt! I always make sure to show my ankles, collar bone and wrists. Seems just as important as showing the waist to me!

If you're a celebrity, possibly a model and maybe have modeled in the past and also look like a clothing hanger you can wear a lot of things with *intent* and confidence and posture and it will look convincingly like fashion. Examples of longer dresses were in the "avoid" category, with which I very much agree, long vertical line does not look good (even cropped to the ankle or a bit above the ankle). Any suggestions for special occasions attire (i.e, theater, opera, ballet, weddings, anniversaries - events of that nature)... Thanks so much!

I hate the struggle that I have being a classic. I always see things I like try them on and Im like nope not me looked awesome on the mannican but on me nope and struggle to find things that fit me looks , colors , and figure. I dont know where to shop at dont know what section to look at . I like jewelry alot and I recently went ring shopping I love Square cut diamonds so I tired it on it seem to big and bulky and they told me to try on the tear drop style cut and who would have known it looked like it belonged to me and I was never drawn or attracted to that cut but I also had help everyone at the counter was like the square cut is just too bulky looking for you we cant explain it , it wasn't about the money the square cut that I had picked out costed more than the one they told me to try on . So Im basically saying is Im always pulled or attracted to things that are not for me I wish I could train myself to go straight to what is for me . Any classics out there I'd love to make some classic friends and see what they shop for and how they put it together !

I agree with you, I feel like most “trendy” things look weird on me as a classic, even though they look good on everyone around me. What I’ve found helpful when shopping is to try on everything I can find even if I don’t like how it looks on the hanger or the mannequin, and to be rather cynical about the things I think I’ll like. I’ve often found that what end up as my favourite pieces are things I actually didn’t like when I first saw them.

I would like to see a video on this next step, the rule breakers. I find that very exciting. I would also like to know which image you would assign yourself to. It used to be Soft Gamine, but could be Flamboyant Gamine....🧐

I would love a video about Body types breaking the rules and looking good. I am a soft natural but i don´t identified myself with the style of soft natural celebrities. More examples with different examples would be great.

I think a lot of what you were saying about Classics and colors either distracting or enhancing their look could be explained by AlexandrasGirlyTalk's video on color theory!

Does anyone else have this problem where their face doesn't really 'match' their body type? My body type leans towards soft natural and theatrical romantic, as it is mostly curvy and "full", but my face is primarily blunt and masculine. Balancing the two has been a real challenge.

Hey Aly, thank you so much for your videos about the body types, they are so helpful! Found out, that I'm a SC. Since I already have a lot of colorful detailed tattoos (that I love) I wondered if there is a way to make tattoos work with every body type? Or does it change the body type? A lot of people have stuff that they like (f.e. a certain haircolor/hairstyle etc.) that just doesn't fit their type. So is there a way to incorporate such things into your style so it works with your body type? A lot of people would probably benefit from a video about that topic!

How will I ever figure this out?! 😅 I can wear lots of patterns, bright colors, geometric shapes, huge shoulder pads or puffy sleeves or giant runway style additions. So confusing.

I’m either a gamine or a soft gamine, and find that feminine dresses and clothes that aren’t overly flamboyant suit me the most. I don’t like dressing too plain, but going over the top doesn’t suit my personality either so it’s somewhere in the middle. I know what you mean by the plastic earrings thing, some women just exude a luxurious aura.

Would you do a video for how your body type and clothing choices can adapt to weight gain?

As a soft gamine, I know I don't look good in one-color dresses in one line head to toe, like you said. It definitely leaves me wondering what kind of wedding dress would look good on me, since I don't want to wear a short dress. Could you please do a video with WEDDING DRESS RECOMMENDATIONS for each type?

As I have heard it said, these are style types and can be the difference between you wearing a great look or it wearing you! And sorry but the Olson's seem to always be being worn by their clothes, however it is their choice. Aly I love it when you show style types wearing things against their type and whether it works because they're balancing it well or not. thanks for all your hours if great hair, make-up and style content ! ps, I'm classic ( though before the test I visually saw myself as a soft natural, not sure it worked) and wonder if age and menopause can change that? I think I was always more dramatic classic but not , with some extra weight and less toned body feel like I'm not. Though for 2 years of Covid I have hardly shopped or even dressed up very much. ) ty. xxoo

I think, just the age is too little to go on. Much depends on your body type, coloring, lifestyle, budget etc. An often recommended idea is, to find a fashion youtuber or celebrity or even a character in a TV series you 'see' yourself in. That's usually more helpful, than just a couple of sentences of general advice.

I love your channel, Aly, but I have come to think essence is more important than body type. There were some celebrities in here as "bad examples" who I thought looked amazing because the outfit suited their essence. I think there are too many exceptions to Kibbe's rules, but I do believe in style essences such as "classic," "gamine," "ethereal," etc.

As a romantic, I stay away from lack of waist emphasis pieces, specially dresses. I'm not short but it's very easy to look so, which is why I look past long dresses.

Should we avoid long dresses? I love maxi dresses
@bic003 жыл бұрын
@@MaryK02 It's just my personal preference, I prefer them shorter or mid. I think as long as you emphasize the waist and pick designs and fabrics that work for you and the type, it's all good!
@velmavlogs76933 жыл бұрын
I like long dresses, but I need to break them up with details, contrasting waist emphasis etc. I think a long column of the same colour can make a R look shorter than she is.

When I identified myself as dramatic classic, everything fell into its places. I've seen my mistakes, I realized that wasted some money for cloths that didn't match me at all. It's hard to be Cindy Crawford if you are Catherine Deneuve.
