It took me ten minutes to find my password, so I could log in, just to comment on your video, dude. Which is great. As mentioned by a few others, your commentary is really funny, and your method of rock moving and the video is both straight-forward and useful. I have a rock, one rock, that I want to turn about 90 degrees. But it's a good ton at least. It's about 3 feet high by 5 feet long and 18 inches wide, on average. You've inspired me to believe I can do it. (Somehow.) I suppose I'll take a few videos in the process. Loved your video, and the concept of the fairy-tale trail.

Wow thank you for such kind words. :) I'm honored that you took the time to find your password, the struggle is real! To spin your big boulder, you can definitely do it with a pry bar like I have. You just need to figure out a cleat/fulcrum you can use. For smaller boulders you just plunge the pry bar into the ground and you're good, but for bigger boulders it might not be enough. You might also need two people each with a pry bar. If you make videos of the process I would love if you commented here and let me know. I would love to see them. Thank you!

Wow I cant believe you said doing Gods work. I always say "doing the righteous work" when working on my forest. I also recently started collecting rocks and moving them. Now I can see I am doing the righteous work. I just got back from the lumber store with a 2 x 12 x 8' ramp plank to go with my other two five footers. Keep up the good work my brother! 😎👍

@@AytwitEngineering I made a little dolly to ride on my new plank and it makes loading and moving the rocks a breeze compared to dragging or walking them. I get them on the dolly and give them a kick and they go to the end of the plank.

I get it . Iv suffered the same un-understandable obsession. It's cool to see I'm not the only one,and the techniques and thought process .ROCK ON BROTHER! Also my favorite thing is digging So my newest thing is Digging up rocks and using them in the landscaping.. Ya my front yard I found an old riverbed about 6 feet down . Not a single stone till that 6 foot mark . Now I got a hole about 17 feet deep .... .ya anyway .don't f-up your back.

So many trees around! In a situation like that I use ratchet straps or come along. Rarely need a sloped glidepath, just roll 'em.

Indeed that was what I wanted to do originally! I forget if I mentioned that in the video. It culminated with attempting a flip flop winch. I could generate the force required but the issue I had was establishing a good anchor on the boulder. I eventually started chiseling out a hole for an eye bolt but that was turning into a lot of work as well. So I gave up and muscled it. Thanks for watching. :)

I'm a rock and boulder guy too. I don't go to the gym, I move rocks and boulders. I have a 10 foot deep 15 feet wide excavation deep in the back yard that just keeps getting bigger. Really nice gravel sand and ancient river boulders that get turned into fountains and rockeries. It's become an obsession. It will eventually be an underground sweat lodge. Peace

@@AytwitEngineering pretty much just shovels and a mattock. And 5 gallon buckets I carry up the entry. Right now i have big trampoline over top. I might just use the sand and gravel to make concrete walls and a roof. We'll see. The cool thing is all the stuff I take out creates new features around the property, like fountains and cairns retaining walls.

Maybe try a 4x4 post instead of wedging so many rocks, I've moved many large boulders but with a pulley system and wedging. I just purchased a portable battery powered winch, 2000lbs I'll be giving it a try. I never realised there were so many vids on moving rocks! Thanks for the video.

Lol. Did I claim it was Basalt in the video? I forget. If so it's because this on top of a trap rock Basalt ridge a little back into the woods. I like to imagine ancient civilizations using precision mortarless tongue and groove cast granite blocks here and getting wiped out in a cataclysm, with their blocks slowly eroding away over thousands of years into these boulders everywhere. But then again probably just Basalt!

The hard part was thinking for years how to move it, some clever way that would save me time and energy. And I ended up wasting so much time when I should have just gone out and done this from the start! Ah but the thinking was worth it too, learned a lot of techniques I would not have otherwise learned. Your very effort is always worth it!
