I did mention my experience with a 800 X 400 foot building. ~ Steel tape, plumb bob, old style transit, first gen lazar transit. ~ Right there along Rt.95 in Portsmouth NH. ~ a Nike warehouse. All about placing the bolt pattern in the 6X6X2ft deep footings 20ft on center. Just two of us. Laying the whole thing out. Leo right out of the Army Core of Engineers. BUT ~ and here's my point.~~~ Leo and I had TWO oh so experienced Crews with excellent and knowledgeable foremen ~ any day ~ 4 men each. AND oversight from a primary engineering company (following us around.). Then an oh so experienced and amazingly personable guy from down east Maine overseeing everything from our company. For Three Months. YOU are doing all this with Greg and your son. Not 400 X800. But ~ It's all here. Deep appreciation for what you are doing here. Wow. As always. In Awe. You are showing your stuff in your own element. My hat is off for you, Greg and your son. Thanks for sharing this project.

Lots of work. Just keep at it. I had a job in Chile in the late 80s.. Every day I had a stack of X-ray film to review, tall stacks. I just kept at it and always got through. Eventually reviewed film for over 14,000 welds on the pipeline from the Andes to the Pacific. Beautiful country through the Atacama Desert.

I watched your episodes where you showed how the Diablo blade goes through nails like butter. I am currently doing a fair size remodel job at my house. I purchased that Diablo blade and I can attest it is worth every dollar!!! Cuts through nails like it's nothing and it is still as sharp after many of them. Great recommendation Kyle. Amazing project!
@dosadoodleАй бұрын
He also had a short video on carbide tipped metal cutting reciprocating blade from Diablo. I'd been going through other metal cutting blades like crazy on a large cast iron pipe -- it literally took an hour to cut through the pipe with the other blades -- and that Diablo blade went through in a few minutes. While those carbide-tipped blades are 3-4x the cost of the other "good" blades, it also trashed 5 of those other blades to get through the pipe once, while the carbide tipped blade made several cuts.

@markstipulkoski1389Ай бұрын
Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see or hear Kyle talk about diagonal bracing. All those trusses are like a row of dominoes, regardless of the purlins or those horizontal "wind-ties" across the bottom chords. There needs to be diagonal bracing, at the very least from the top of the end truss to the bottom of the next truss. I know he knows this because he puts diagonal supports on the corner posts. Same applies to the trusses. All you have to do is imagine the crane boom pushing the top of the first truss and the purlins transferring that force down the line, flopping them all over. Maybe good enough for now.
@dzaino1986Ай бұрын
He did at the end of the video. Diag bracing coming soon to lock everything in.

In the old days we used to use pelican hooks to fly trusses (similar to what’s used on the stinger boom on the skid steer at 3:23). That way the operator was able to release the rigging himself by cabling down and booming away. But OSHA put the kibosh on those years ago. A set of adjustable length chains and a pair of pelican hooks would be what was used here.

Great work, you all are insanely hard workers! I use this exact size of LVL for rafters in northern Sweden in an area that need to handle 400kg/sqm, I buy them in Asia for 34USD a pop, same size and 6m length. But I never buy less than 50 of these and atleast 100 sheets of plywood per order. My last order will arrive next week where I also have 50 sheets of Grade B birch plywood so it will be interesting to see if that will be possible to use for furniture :)

Maybe you addressed this in the comments or I missed in the video, I’m curious you’re running trusses down 1 side of the building, instead of setting both sides as you go,.. or setting bays opposite of each other. I would be interested in that content, unless it’s just a matter of convenience. (Not a builder… can you tell? 😊 )
