To be fair, any combine can be set for no loss. It just depends on how dirty of a sample you want. The comparison for loss is only useful if you also compare the grain quality and foreign material in a sample. I like what you put together, but in the future I'd say you should consider the sample as that will truly tell how each of the machines are performing relative to their loss.

In Western Canada alot of JD farms have switched to Claas combines for far less grain loss in small grain crops and canola. The X9 as well is having alot of reliability issues. Members of the family fix the X9 professionally. 40,000 acre farm that we combined right beside and the service trucks are out steady married to the X9's The Claas is much cheaper on fuel and extremely durable in tough conditions when the others have to shut down for the night. Obviously the X9 was developed for corn not small grains. Capacity was high but grain losses were super high in our area even with a crew of JD people out setting and tweaking the demos.

Cool video, but….. it’s one thing to throw a sample pan down and say- “ so this is the loss from combine X”… but how clean is the tank sample? Adjust sieves, fan speed, etc to see if you can lessen the amount it throws over? That’s what good operators would do. How low can you get your losses and still get a clean sample? I don’t know any operators who just drive through the whole crop without adjusting, and “oh well, what it loses it loses, but I’m doing 5.5mph!” Not a real accurate demo in my mind.
