To be fair, any combine can be set for no loss. It just depends on how dirty of a sample you want. The comparison for loss is only useful if you also compare the grain quality and foreign material in a sample. I like what you put together, but in the future I'd say you should consider the sample as that will truly tell how each of the machines are performing relative to their loss.

Exactly right. Any farmer worth his salt immediately wanted to look in that grain tank for a sample. It's always a balancing act of what's coming out the back end vs what's going in the bin

Well that’s why there comparing all three combines in the same field so it’s a fair comparing ;it looks like the John Deere has the best engineering. John Deere always has more money in there engineering none of the other brands like Claas and Fendt don’t even make their own engines . The John Deere 18 liter engine is engineered to last 20 thousand hours and no brand is going to beat John Deere !

So many people are biased in favor of the brand they own and use. Brand loyalty is quite strong. Takes a lot to change anybody’s mind. Also, so much depends on the dealer service and support which obviously is very important regardless of the color of the equipment. I find videos like this interesting but base my buying decisions on my own personal experience on my farm, crops, local support etc. Best to all of you.

In Western Canada alot of JD farms have switched to Claas combines for far less grain loss in small grain crops and canola. The X9 as well is having alot of reliability issues. Members of the family fix the X9 professionally. 40,000 acre farm that we combined right beside and the service trucks are out steady married to the X9's The Claas is much cheaper on fuel and extremely durable in tough conditions when the others have to shut down for the night. Obviously the X9 was developed for corn not small grains. Capacity was high but grain losses were super high in our area even with a crew of JD people out setting and tweaking the demos.

Funny, I always see the Claas service trucks out at their combines in the morning. The X9 does have issues, but no worse than others. I have a friend that had a Class and every day he had a electrical issue. Traded it to a X9.

@@Hoserfishing No Class parts department close by here. Blow a belt, 80 mile drive to a Class parts department. Jd dealership with a great network and shop within 3 miles for us. And for throwing grain out, seems like the Class is no better than JD or CaseIH here. The X9 is having growing pains, just like IH had with their first rotor and NewHolland did with theirs. All combines are designed for corn because thats where the bushels and the market is.

Cool video, but….. it’s one thing to throw a sample pan down and say- “ so this is the loss from combine X”… but how clean is the tank sample? Adjust sieves, fan speed, etc to see if you can lessen the amount it throws over? That’s what good operators would do. How low can you get your losses and still get a clean sample? I don’t know any operators who just drive through the whole crop without adjusting, and “oh well, what it loses it loses, but I’m doing 5.5mph!” Not a real accurate demo in my mind.

We demoed a cr 9.90 in canola against our massey 9565’s and ideal 10t’s and the canola sample n the 9.90 was worse than the massey and we were running the so called automation settings but all it did was turn the fan up and blow canola out the back. We were impressed at all. The nh salesman told us that cr would blow past the fendts. Did the exact opposite lol. .25 loss on the ideal going 4-5mph in 60 bu/ac canola .4 with the massey at 3-4. And new holland trying to keep up to the ideal at 4-5mph was .6 loss but once we slowed the new holland down to 2-3 it was .2

We run 2 old 9600s and most break downs we can fix in a few hours and if not they are there as fast as 123 with parts. But yea in the elevators I worked the case ih and NH had the cleanest sample. Lexion guys had so much FM we rejected some. It could just be the operators having no clue or support to set them up right. Rotary Deere guys always have an ok sample as well. I have no idea myself what the NH crew is doing to get clean grain like that. I was shocked to see 3 lex farmers bring in more FM than grain . I'll have to go up there and ask. We got it all shucked and plowed yesterday. Good luck though and have a good winter.

John Deere has a bit farther to go to catch up to a Fendt. John Deere had to wait for the patent to expire on the Fendt Ideal technology before they could copy the Fendt design. That is why Deere is nine years behind Fendt when they came out with the X9. You just can’t beat German engineering and design technology. The Fendt Ideal combine is #1 in the world and the Deere people know that to be true.

The losses test is pretty much meaningless with only 1 sample. With one sample you have no idea what sort of variance you have in the tests and therefore can't hope to generate accurate statistically significant results.
