biggest dugout shelter build , bushcraft shelter , dark wood , night with stove

You and your friend have built a fine structure. I see that you have a water way close at hand. I also noticed a small tree that had been partially eaten. Best dugout I've seen so far. Plenty of square footage with room to move around in and head clearance next to the walls. I've been making similar plans for a dugout cabin for long-term living. I'm going Sasquatch on society around the first of April.

Good build. Is this dugout on private property of just in the bush? How long did the chain saw last before battery ran flat? Lucky you had plenty of timber on the ground to use. I also liked the window to let light into the building.

In asia we use 3 stones or rocks to put our pans pots kettles in a triangular postions in cooking . We donot use firewoods or woods as grills. Thats at least in southeast asia so as not to tilt of let fall or burn what we cook. Different folks different strokes maybe. And i never experience that a stone or rock that we use explode in our face.

If there is a lot of clay in the soil it's usually not an issue, but the best way to resolve it is to build drainage ditches that flow away from the structure so the water runs away before it soaks in

@@thiefonthecross7552 They have a tarp over the top of the cabin and an angled roof, then they cover the tarp in sod and foliage. Water runs off the sides.

@@TheNovaGoose I believe they're referring to water seeping in from the surrounding subsoil if there isn't a waterproof layer between the soil and the wood. Otherwise, when it rains water seeps out and is absorbed by the wood, or leak into the dugout if there's enough. Drastically reduces the life of untreated timber if it is continually absorbing moisture.

I watch tonnes of vids about building in the wilderness. That said, none are done in south Texas brush. None of the wood is strait. Nice shelter though. Get with me if you want to build on rocky land with crappy trees.
