The oldest Steakhouse in Vegas is Bob Taylor’s Ranch House! It was opened in 1955. The Golden Steer was opened in 1958!

WAY back in the day (early 2000's) I was a semipro poker player for a bit and would take a couple of trips a year to Vegas to play in various tournaments. Going to the Golden Steer was what we considered the "winner's dinner". It's expensive AF, but it's WORTH it, and if you're in Vegas a week and made enough that you not only covered your trip but have to declare your winnings, THAT is the place to hit.

In those days I'd net about $10-20K after taxes and expenses depending on the year between trips to casinos and online play (which was legal back then). It wasn't enough quit my day job and live on, but it provided a nice supplement to my income, so yeah. Semipro.

6:40 On a historical note, lobsters were once so commonplace on the shores of the USA that it was the default food for Slaves and Indentured servants until one day, there was a massive protest among the indentured servants who refused to have lobsters forced upon them. They compromised to having it just 2x per week

I ate there about two weeks ago. The lobster tail was great, but the strip was lean and too chewy. The Cesar salad was probably the best I ever had and the king crab legs was pretty good. Over all I’m glad I went, but probably won’t be going back.

Easily.. one things that saves him is he doesn’t drink.. when I go out to expensive steak houses that’s usually half the bill with a group.. 2 bottles of wine will be another 200 bucks.. that’s what happens when you have to pick up the bill at least lol

20 bucks says it’s not from New England , and one more thing no proper New Englander would ever eat a lobster that was frozen and sent dead , we like them alive and then cooked . Bad way of eating lobster is frozen and not 100% fresh
