In this video I take a huge gamble and purchase an abandoned Land Rover Defender 130 SV special vehicle project that I have not seen and have not mentioned to Chris. This could be a big mistake. As he has owned several 90 and 110 models, I really hope he wants to own a 130 !

I think you may under estimate the strength of your friendship/partnership, but it made for a more entertaining video. You can pick up 130 ex utility Quadtech 4 bodies fairly cheaply (between £500 - £1200) that will go straight on to that lovely galvanised chassis for a basic camper project. With the spec of the chassis, engine and other rebuilt items, even a basic camper project that needs fitting out could fetch £10k plus. Fitting a quadtech body would be less time consuming than building up the rear body. It'll drop straight on. No need to paint it - the new owner will have a blank canvas to paint it any colour they desire and fit it out to their individual needs.

The Land Rover Series II / IIA / III were the original "Bitsa's" and the Defender continues that fine tradition. There is so much interchangeability its brilliant. When looking for a Defender the top priority is the chassis obviously as its what everything is bolted to. The next most important consideration is the front engine bulkhead as this is what all the bodywork is lined up from and the next consideration is the engine / transmission / suspension. So this one has a galvanised chassis which is a massive positive, the bulkhead looks to be in pretty good shape and the engine and gearbox has been rebuilt which is another huge positive. By the way, as long as the timing belt is done regularly, the 200TDI & 300TDI are about as bombproof as any engine out there, they are a phenomenal piece of kit and require no ECU. Also the suspension looks like new and the wheels are standard on some Defenders. With the market for Defenders being what it is for the last few years I'd say you're sitting on a £10k car, right now, as it is. Good luck with it as whoever ends up with it will be getting a hell of an incredible machine.
