The car was in a shocking state almost urecognisable from some angles! I guess its a testament to the construction of BMW's that the owner walked away from this one particularly the speed he was doing! Seems his wallet was more injured though, looks like he paid 26k for it the end of last year, nine months later its worth 2k!! The body is only fit for the crusher although plenty of parts. Would be great to see you guys do a re-shell but imagine the man hours that would take would tie you both up for ages.
@benfel94032 жыл бұрын
A friend of my parents ordered a brand new Peugeot 405 Mi16x4 back in 1990 and spec'd every single optional extra on it. First drive and it was hit by a BMW and rolled. Because the car was so new they re-shelled it and it was nothing but trouble from then on in. I think everyone regretted the re-shelling, I think you will dodge a bullet by not going down that route! Much as it would be fun to watch!

80mph in to what a planet 🌎.. that was travelling well in access of I would say at least 120mph .. but .. what ever the speed that car was doing saved the guys life that day .. testament to the build quality.. every safety device worked perfectly.. and he walked away .. shows how far safety technology has advanced over the years

He wouldn't have been able to survive the g force on his body at 120mph.
@organiccold2 жыл бұрын
Take in attention crash tests are done at +- 35mph and the damage is massive as the new cars are made to dissipate the energy of the impact around the shell protecting the occupants, now having that in mind imagine if that impact in what looks like an not deformable barrier at 120mph, the steering wheel will be in the boot and the driver will be mash peas

I think it's a sensible buy. The engine & gearbox - if undamaged - should be worth £2K and lots of other specialist parts. Is it worthwhile pulling the front out just so you can see if the engine runs?

Wow, firstly so glad the owner walked away, says loads about modern car build. Whilst it would be a great project, the time factor, as you say, isn't worth it for a commercial concern. Better it goes to a BMW breakers where it can bring back to life a number of other BMWs, please let us know what you get for it out of interest. As you both say the engine may well be okay with just minor add on parts broken, plus all the other bits. Love the comment about other projects where pulling out a part makes it all pop back into place, I feel with this car however there would be a loud bang and you'd be left with a pile of a 1000 parts on the floor😂. As usual, thanks for sharing this video guys, it was a good and interesting insight into your work, shame you couldn't work your magic this time around, can't wait for the next one! 👍

This whole video clearly shows how laid back Chris really is, he wasn't bothered at all, and took it for what it was. That cars exactly why I haven't bought any accident damaged machines recently yeah in theory it's a 6000 plus profit, until you find 10 bits that aren't available used, the dealers /OEM have no stock or those few unexpected bits take all the profit. yeah it would be a good Chanel project if it generated enough revenue from views to cover the extra time involved. Practically though you made the right call dumping it. The only other thing is it highlights a problem not being recorded, somebody who's not honest could re shell that and sell it for huge money. If they didn't say nobody would ever know it's real history, thats just plain nasty if that happens with other cars out there. The checks are totally useless in those cases.. Thanks for the video, take care guys.
