I had a R500 and now a R350 Diesel. An underrated car that is built like a tank. It is a beast in the snow. I still lust after a R63 though. I have seen a couple around where I live, but nowhere else I have been. A very rare machine indeed.

@@deepthoughtdeepbreath2383 So I installed full length luggage roof rails, got them on EBay from Asia. I couldn’t find them in North America. Then I bought the chromed front radiator grill which looks nicer. I got upgraded European brakes from a supplier in Phoenix AZ, and most importantly custom wheels with Michelin SUV sport tires. I’ve learned a lot owning this R350, happy to share if you have any questions?

1. yes there is at least one lover of the R-Class that being me 2. Yes for me the pre Facelift is more beautiful than the facelift 3. this car is amazing it has everything you want in one vehicle and I don’t know why people don’t like the concept of having everything in one car

I used to own 2007 R320CDI. The most comfortable family car I owned. Gas mileage on road trips was 32-35 mpg. Sadly, it was totaled :( CDIs are pretty rare to find, especially with low mileage.

I might go for 2011-2012 with gas engine, since 2011-2012 diesels all have DEF emission system and having in mind most rides my wife takes are within the city, emission system might not get enough ride time for regen to complete for a long long time, and that system could fail soon, costing a lot to repair.

I love my 06’ R350. Bought it with 192 just rolled 200k! Bought it not knowing too much of the history, but the last owner put two arnott struts on the back and the owner before that seems to have had a lot of work done in South Carolina new crate motor put in and all lots of service receipts. But I bought the car for $2000 with a faulty fuel pump and leaking a little gas around at the lock ring.

Former 2011 R-class owner here. The mistake Mercedes made was their weird marketing for the car. IF they had sold is as eg: An S-Class Estate and classed up - it would have sold better. Or just call it a lifted wagon. Some features were barely mentioned - eg: the third row (which were bigger than most third row seats out there today). They tried to invent a class and failed - the car itself was much better than you make out. I had the BlueTech engine which did have it's share of issues (never left me stranded but lots of niggling problems) but the car itself was great - it even handled well - eg: phenomenal brakes. It also towed like a champ - I pushed the limits of the tow package (my boat on trailer was about 3100 pounds) but it was the best tow vehicle I've owned (vs previous MDX, Highlander Hybrid, and long ago a Toyota SR5 pickup). It could do anything - TONS of space and cargo capacity, could seat 7 (or 6 adults), tow, got great fuel economy. Now the negatives - it WAS weird looking. I ad the 2011 that had a much better looking front end - but from certain angles the car looked like a beached whale. With a minor design refresh (eg: Make the roof flatter and have more angles) it could have been a great looking car. Long post - but if you go onto MB forums and search the R-class, you'll see that the people who loved it far outnumber the actual owners who didn't.

Great video! Also Mercedes engineers designed it with easy access to the middle and rear seats. To do so the two back doors were very long, and moms avoided it because it wasn’t possible to open them without court next to them - some thing parents know is going to be a problem when using any vehicle to transport children.

I love my 2007 r320 cdi Super comfortable, drives like a dream. Some of the original parts and modules are garbage but Mercedes tends to upgrade parts so replacement parts usually last

I've owned one for the pass 5yrs. And it's only got better once I changed the airmatic suspension for a adjustable coilover kit by Hiro Performance. The R500 feels 20×more aerodynamic. And less fuel consumption. Believe me or not. Love My R

I bought a 2007 r350 about 4 years ago. It only had about 50k miles on it and cost me about $10k. One of the best decisions I ever made.

I bought my 2008 R350 two wheel drive with 63,000 miles from first owner. I've been driving this car since 2010 and today the mileage is 142654. I changed the motor oil with Mobile 1 synthetic oil, changed tranny oil every 30,000 miles, power steering oil I cnanged once since I bought the car. I flushed the radiator every 30,000 miles. suspension pump is original and I check it anytime I've sericed the tires rotation. Never once it disappointed me or broke down once. I also own 1993 600SEL, 2008 S600, 2011 350 and 1970 280 SE 3.5 cabriolet. Nothing like the Mercedes. Hate my 2010 Bentley Arnage my wife wanted but a piece of glorified junk. Own 2012 Honda Odyssey and it's absolutely satisfying with least amount of expensive maintenance. If I was a middle class working guy I would only buy Toyotas or Hondas. No car in the world matches the reliability, comfort and least amount of costly maintenance. The exception to all the above ae the Russian cars that I drove while I lived there in good old Sovirt Union time!

@@snggarageeng no, not yet. I did the recall for "Field Measure"(diesel emissions) and a front shock. The only issue I have is with the latch on the trunk lid.

I had R 300 model 2011 it was value for money and best family car it reached 340,000 km and sold it last year . But Mercedes when it gets old, it’s not reliable costly to repair. That’s why we are more dependent on land cruisers.

I got a R500 5.0 L engine and let me tell you I have a S550 20017 I barely drive I rather my R500 any day and I put My GLS 63 rims on them woooooooooo super underrated. You have to drive this car to understands
