Great advice. So important to invest early. Also I still feel you learn a lot on your thirties. Your at that age where you have accumulated good capital and can take some risks.

Adding monthly payments instead of total liabilities was what started to get me into trouble, started Dave Ramsey's program, ditched some bad investments, now I'm on track to pay the house off by forty.

Awesome video, thank you so much!! I’m 31, just got out of debt last week. Paid all of my $10000 credit card debt off. I feel sooooo proud!! I also Maxed my Roth IRA for 2019, and trying to invest in other things. Not sure about what step to take now lol, but I’m watching your videos to guide me. I’m not married, no bf and no kids yet. Thinking seriously about open an HSA. What do you suggest?

Love your channel.... can you do a show on information for state employees like teachers and principals that have CalPers/CalStrs retirements.... how do we plan? How much of income should we invest on top of the pension plans? Can I included our contribution to CalStrs part of my 25% for the future? Can we rely on these retirement accounts with the state? Etc...

Good video content. What you are talking about boils down to the behavioural aspect of money, the more youmake, especially in your 30's, the more you will spend, i.e. bigger house, fancier car etc. instead of saving, building up those army of dollars for the future, We all been there, me included.

33 here. My husband and I both contribute 15% to a Roth 401K with our company and we both get a 6% match. Is this the right way or should we split this up? We have no debt except the house, no kids and are currently paying extra on our mortgage to pay it off.

Great job Rebecca, you and your husband are doing a great job taking advantage of the 6% match and utilizing the ROTH option. It sounds like you are on the right track with the limited info you provided. Feel free to email us if you need more advice/direction: www.moneyguy.com/contact-us/

This advice is so great for me to hear. I am in a lucky position because my father was very good about investing and helping me start off. I do worry about debt, a market crash, and not having enough dry powder to take advantage. Also what are your thoughts about Dividend Growth investing?
@MoneyGuyShow
@MoneyGuyShow 6 жыл бұрын
John, Thank you for the comment. As for the debt you may want to check out our past episodes on financial order of operations (podcast that we may turn into KZbin show soon). Diversification and a proper asset allocation will help you make it through a market crash. Also, a healthy cash reserve will ensure you have powder money for “big opportunities”. Dividends (and other sources of income) are just one component of return, so having an understanding of your ultimate goals will help inform what investment strategy makes the most sense.

I'm 23, work as a software engineer, and my monthly expenses are around $1500 with fun money(restaurants/bars) factored in. I currently invest $20k a year into the S&P 500 but only $6k can go into Roth IRA a year without backdoor Roth, or being self employed to the best of my knowledge. Any way around this? I do plan to retire prior to 59.5 so it's not a huge deal but I would like to know if I can reduce taxable gains a bit more.

Deven Swiergiel A solo 401k or SEP would be a good starting point to checkout, if you are self employed with no employees.

My goal for the 30s is to do what makes me happy. In my 20s I bought a house, got established in a job, got depressed and thought about suicide quite a bit. If I live threw my 30s I’ll call it a success. I put too much importance on buying a house in my 20s, I have managed to hang onto it for 6 years, will have it paid off in less than 10 years, but a few times it’s almost cost me my life.

John, Hang in there and consider talking to someone. Making decisions about purchasing a house and getting out of debt should not cause that degree of stress. We are glad to have you join the Money Guy family and hope you have a blue sky decade. Thanks for the watch and comment 👍
