I once heard a saying. In poker, if you fold the action ends, if you call the action ends, but only if you raise, you can get raised. It's not that you made a mistake by raising, but that you did not prepare for the ONE thing you had to prepare for.

2nd hand was great content. Also, A) Nick's hand was visibly shaking, even CLEARLY noticeable as a viewer, when he bet the $9,000 on the river. B) Excellent fold by Chris. His river raise was kinda bad, but nobody plays perfect. I know it looks like a block bet by Nick but if you raise that bet Nick is never calling with worse than the J Flush, so it's an easy call and a free extra $9k when you're good and you don't blow more money when you're losing. That said, I'm happy for him that he didn't compound his mistake and put the last $20k in when it was clear he was dead. Sometimes in those situations you get so frustrated by your mistake that you level yourself into "having" to do something that you don't and really shouldn't do. It's the sign that he's a talented player that even though he made a mistake and visibly got super tilted by it that he still was able to calm down and fold. 99% of people who make that mistake just tell themselves to call just to see it.

I disagree that river is never a raise. Nick's bet looks like a blocker bet. Nick can DEFINITELY call with a worse hand than a jack high flush. he called 17 k with a pair of threes in the previous hand. This is LUDA CHRIS. dude can potentially be spaz bluffing on any board, he's a maniac. If a nit went for a blocker bet on the river, then Luda chris should just call. Luda chris is a guy with an insane image who is near the top of his range. he has to raise these on the river since he can get called down light a lot.

Nick V made a great call on the first hand. Period!!! When you have a wide open image like Luda does those things happen!!! The 9k sizing on the river looked like a blocker bet with a straight on a paired board and Luda fell for it. It happens. He made a great fold to keep the last 20k. Entertaining hands to watch!!!

What is Luda calling flop raise with that he 3bet pre? Let's go over some of the possible hands (bluff hands with equity): diamond draws: A2-A6, A8-AK, K9-KQ, QT-QJ, J9-JT, T9, 98 (19 combos) Hands that are calling ahead most of the time: Pairs: 88-AA (not 3 betting pre with 22-66 PROBABLY, gives us 42 combos) Nick is discounting super nutted hands so we wont even go over those. Turn comes 5s. Notice how none of the hands from above interact with the 5s, except A5dd and maybe 98dd, A2dd, A4dd that pick up a gutter ball. Does a half pot bet make much sense with an overpair? Sure, but remember Nick check raised flop and Luda just called, he should be weary of a random 7x holding, so Luda won't always be betting turn unless he's trying to rep either a super nutted hand or a strong overpair, so we are still left with 19 combos of diamond draws and 42 combos of over pairs that may or may not be betting half pot after getting check raised on flop, so let's call it 19 combos of diamonds and 21 combos of pairs because half the time he won't be betting these hands. River come 9h. This completes A9dd, K9dd, J9dd, T9dd, 98dd, and 99. However, would Luda go all in with just a 9? Probably not he would probably just try to get to showdown. Would Luda go all in with an overpair? Probably not again he might just want to get to showdown. So that leaves us with what is Luda going all in with? 14 combos of diamonds and maybe 24 combos of pairs. This gives us around 42% equity to make the call. The half pot jam on the river gives us around 25% equity to be right, so obviously this is a pretty slam dunk call with what we can see. I didn't include any of the spam nutty hands Luda might be doing this with, which would drive that 42% equity up even more. Very good play by Nick here. Curious what others think of my analysis, I'm sure some things are off but this is how I'm thinking about it.

greed got to Luda, all he had to do is called the 9K and lose the 9K, especially with a boat on the board, instead, he raised to punish Nick from the hand before, NOT knowing that Nick was trapping him, Luda is NOT a good poker player, I've seen him bluff in the worst of situations, sometimes it works, especially against lousy players, but NEVER against good players

Luda 3bets like an absolute maniac in a game where players never fold pre flop so he gets in these spots OOP where he gets all emotional and piles in a ton of $ in to win the pot. Credit to him to have it in him to run bluffs and willing to play massive pots but wow both those hands were painful to watch

off of that hand you mention alone, luda is literally delusional if he continues to think that he is a high-stakes pro. one should never be playing in games that are too high of a risk relative to your bankroll, televised/livestream/etc., it doesn't matter. never play out of your financial means. and that fold was a "scared money" fold. luda is nowhere near as good as he thinks he is.

You never know...In my small home game...I had pocket fives on a board with Q Q A J 9 and the post was $500 he bet $200 on the river into the pot and I had remaining $240. And I raised all in out frustration and he folded...thinking he had nothing and him thinking i had the nuts..he flipped over pocket kings LOL. Everyone at the table was shocked he wouldn't put in the extra $40 into a $940 pot. He tried to get tricky to save $40 when it cost him the whole pot. My stupid play...won me that one HAHAHA. He was shocked....you just never know.

I get that Luda dwells in "aggression is best plan" part of a poker profile, which is unquestionably the best take, but that river raise was a spew. That chunky bet on the turn would have anyone playing defensive. Literally the only hand that river raise is targeting is a 5, which isn't likely to value bet in the first place with flush and boat out there, and is basically a bluff catcher.
@ozrenbalic6051
@ozrenbalic6051 2 жыл бұрын
A lower flush could call. I would have just called in Luda's shoes, but when you bluff as much as he does, you have to throw in some thin raises.
@88mphDrBrown
@88mphDrBrown 2 жыл бұрын
@@ozrenbalic6051 there's almost none, just 89 and 24. I doubt 24 would likely be played like that. I get that aggressive players need to bet thin, but there's just no where near enough value to justify that play. It's a spew.

The smallish donkbet on river was a mastery. I am not sure if Nick was fully aware what he was doing, but for Luda it screamed like straight or lower blockbetting. Nice one Sir! On the other hand this minclick on flop was super strong and value-heavy, might have influenced the fold decission on riv. Plus timing - Nick could have had taken some more time, as we would have had with bluffs (if he ever had some here, which I doubt). Overall I am pretty impressed with how Nick evolved.
