I enjoyed my stay at Lagundi Bay very much. It was early September, 1981. The surf rocked every day. The day I arrived it was 15-18 feet, Hawaiian feet. There were very few other surfers there and none of them ventured out that day. I had an 8’ 6” pintail gun made by my buddy, the late Dick Catri, and was perfect for the waves that day. “No more money, No more visa. You can’t stay in Indonesia.” Children’s song some of the Nias kids would sing when it came time for a surfer to leave. Great memories. Glad that I took a lot of photos. I toted a Canon F-1 with a motor drive, numerous lenses plus a Canon 800mm lens as well as a Nikonos with assorted lenses with me to that remote location. 6 months overseas on that trip. Sumatra, Nias, Java, Bali & Hawaii. Caught a lot of killer waves.

GREAT WORK! Nias has always been my favorite wave that I'll never surf - - - everything about it is beautiful and fascinating...especially it's color - that unique GREEN. You captured every angle and then some - excellent drone work. LOVE the beach shot where surfers disappear for awhile after the drop. Local guys, I'm guessing from the names, and some ladies too - CHARGING! Tons of footage. What more could you want?

thank you thank you thank you for not putting any lame music in this awesome vid (although it was a bit of a scare at the 30 second mark put then I realized it was just someone on the beach). I am curious how you got the drone footage without the drone noise but second mike I guess. I've almost stopped watching surf vids lately cus I'm over the lame soundtracks and almost didn't watch because of that, but I'm glad I took the chance. new subscriber
