UMBC unfortunately did lose to K State which sucks, but at the same time they only lost by 5. They were in the game against K-State the whole time after blowing out the number 1 team in the country by 20...something inside me tells me that if a few more shots had hit UMBC could have made it a couple rounds farther at the high level they were playing at. Imagine a 16 seed in the Sweet 16 or even Elite 8. My god.

I remember that Norfolk State game like it was yesterday. It still stings. I really wish that Mizzou team played smart instead of getting their egos get the best of them. That was one of the main reasons as to why we lost in lawrence a month before the upset. We got way too excited after we won the Big 12 conference championship.

UMBC over VA obviously, but Lehigh beating Duke is nowhere close to most of these. Lehigh had future NBA lottery pick and Portland Trail Blazer C.J. McCollum, and he went off for 30 when they played Duke. Was it a big upset, sure, but it makes sense when you look back and realize Lehigh had the best player on the floor. It really doesn't compare to games on this list like Norfolk State, VCU, or George Mason, which are truly "how did that just happen"

The only reason that a team like Virginia would lose by 20 to a 16 seed team is pure and simply because they flat out overlooked them. I'm sure the players thought it was a guaranteed win. You still have to go out and play and execute. SMH. I hear a lot of fans saying that certain teams have "easy regions". There are no "easy" games in division 1. No, because Duke more than overachieved that season! The thing most don't realize or never paid attention to was how experienced Mercer was! I'd watched them play on TV a few times that season and their entire starting lineup was four and fifth yr seniors who'd played together for two to three years, which is a necessity majority of the time in the tournament! I'm a Duke fan and the moment that matchup appeared when the bracket was announced, I knew we were in trouble
