Although I am glad that this is getting addressed I feel a bit sad that those who are not apart of the ark community don’t understand the real significance of this issue. It’s absolutely crushing to have all of your hard work destroyed illegally. Also surprised that asmongold completely forgot about graphics settings😂

I don't play PvP, but I have sunk thousands of hours into ARK. I fully understand where you are coming from and the importance of this on the community as a whole. Asmondgold sounded so ignorant though it was quite disheartening. I believe that the PVE community should stand with these players. They have taken a hit for the whole community to expose the corruption. Not only that, but Snail is trying to screw us all over, we, all of us together are the only ones keeping this communist controlled company that sells off assets or just duplicates them for other games. We as a whole keep them alive. 😔I personally have abandoned the ARK. Wildcard sold their soul for 40mil.

I genuinely think there's an element of "No Mans Sky" viral advertising going on with Ark right now. They've pumped a hell of a lot more money into the Ark franchise recently, what with all the top tier actors signing up for the games and upcoming TV show that they need to make sure the franchise reaches even more people than it currently is and what better way to get the name out there than with a good old corruption and redemption story arc. Just take a look what happened with NMS, if it wasn't for Sean Murray lying his ass off about the game content then the whole eventual redemption then I don't think it would have been anywhere near as successful as it is today. It works as a form of advertising.

Kinda stopped watching after I got the point cos asmons take just really annoyed me. Lots of games “look like shit” to people who don’t play them, but the people who do, love the game. Chill asmon. Edit - upon finishing the video, some of asmons points are valid, but still, I think he goes a little too hard. Glad pterafier is covering tho, more eyes equals higher possibility some of this stuff gets fixed. Keep up the good work ptera. ❤

Ptera, You're too nice to this guy. If he made a video of his experience playing Ark, please find and review it. It's a crying shame he's convincing his viewers that Ark is ugly 💩 based on a few minutes of PVP video and one bad experience he had.

I definately think that Ark has come a long way but I firmly believe the PvP is just a small part (but loud) minority of the playerbase. To me Ark has always been a PvE game first rather than a PvP game. It tried to cater to both the PvP and PvE crowd and the PvE crowd has kept it alive for so long despite the overall issues. One way I would answer the question from Asmongold about "How is Ark so popular?" and in my honest opinion I believe it's like other games like Half-Life, Stalker and Doom having one thing in commonthat seperates other games that are similar to Ark and that is Mod-Support. Infact I'm having difficulty even remembering any games past 2015 that actively encouraged Mod Support for their game. Infact Wildcard took a step further and even actively started paying Modders for their hard work, some even becoming members of the Developer team.

I am so miffed at the guy you are reviewing Pterafier the guy needs to look at other footage... streams on unofficial or pve official. Who has $140k to waste! They can send it my way!!! that's nearly my house paid off!! Might be playing.... the admins and snail games employees do play in Tea. Being a PVPer on official before I turned to unofficial PVE, I KNOW how hard and long you play to become an alpha tribe, its hard to even start out small, you don't need people ruining the game for you even more by banning you for playing the game the way it is meant to be played. I hope something comes of this. Thanks for sharing Pterafier. Made my blood boil watching a game I have played since beta and I KNOW its not a great game but watching him just blow it up. over 17k hours in this game and I can not find any game that has not taken something from Ark to build apon!

There is no interest from WildCard or Snail Games to fix ANY bugs in ASA. Let's take a small look at their history so far: Ark: Not fixed MAJOR bugs like meshing/hitboxes/rubberbanding/desync/hacking/glitches in 8 years. New additions (Carchar, Genesis etc stay buggy) I still remember how excited I was for release, since I expected bug fixes. We didn't get them. In fact, I don't think we even got a patch that day. They just doubled the price on steam because the game was now "released". Most of the issues we had in early access still persist today, 8 years later.👍 Atlas: It's Ark1 with conversion mod, sold as standalone game. Made most money in early access. Still bugg, still in early access, mostly abandoned Dark and Light: It's Ark1 with conversion mod, sold as standalone game. Made most money in early access. Still buggy, still in early access, abandoned Outlaws of the Old West: It's Ark1 with conversion mod, sold as standalone game. Made most money in early access. So what does this show us: Snail Games / Wildcard LOVE selling us the same game with a new coat of paint several times. They love cashing in on early access money before abandoning their games before release and move on to do it again with the next project. We already know which game they are moving towards next after ASA: Ark 2. I'm sure things will play out differently this time. For sure. 🙄 And yes: it sucks. Another thought and I#m putting my tinfoil hat on for that one: ASA was announced for free AFTER Ark2 was announced. They wanted to give it away for free and to soften the blow of the Ark2 delay announcement they made the same day. Why would Wildcard even waste dev time on a side project, when they were already massively behind again? It doesn't make sense, unless they were trying to do what they have been doing over and over: Sell us the same game - Ark1 - with a new coat of paint again. Ark2 might not be coded from the ground up. It might just be another "Ark 1 with full conversion mod" of the same buggy mess, they have sold so many times in the past because... ... it just works. I'm sad now. Have a nice one.

Love this video and hearing your take on things. :) I have heard others complain and complain about the bugs in Ark, but honestly I've only encountered a few of them and they didn't "bug" me. (Yes pun intended) I'd like to know of one open world survival game out there that is 100% perfect with no bugs. I don't think there is one. I've been playing Ark since 2017, btw. I also play on high and epic settings and I believe the game looks beautiful. I've been able to get some awesome screenshots. I do not, and will not, play on official servers of any kind and I do not play PvP, (except for planned events with friends - Monarky style, so to speak). All the same though I have fun in my single player games and on my own server with friends. Keep up the great work, Ptera! ♥

Bugs are really scary and dangerous. Have you played the early game of ARK and tried exploring a bit further than the beach? Those bugs will chase you down and kill you, it doesn't make it any better that they drain your stamina too if they can land a hit. People say that raptors are the early game threats but at least you can bola them and see spot them for afar, you almost never see (and expect) the bugs coming at you.

Kinda glad I've never heard of this reviewer before, sounds like his opinion isn't worth the toilet paper it's written on. The point regarding the bans is valid though, Snail Games and Wildcard should make some statement.

when ragnorok/lagnorok came out we had a sweet set up like 90 people in 3 tribes running a server and we got raided from the mesh. it was T back a few years ago. i stopped playing official when that happened. these devs dont give AF

I'm newer to ark but I have it on the switch and it really shows that the game is a great game visually and physically but I really hope and wish they add more graphic settings too mess around with and really push the limits on the switch just too see !

If you watched the game from the pvp players monitor it wouldn’t look that bad because of the frame rate smooth animations and responsiveness and most pvp players just turn shadows of and keep textures on high the game still can look good

This was a very good video. I love ark like you do, despite all it's bugs and flaws. But.... He's got several good points xD despite me wanting to counter... He's kinda right. I can't lie, when i 1st started playing this game about a 1.5 yrs ago and was underwhelmed with the visuals. The gameplay loop is what kept me cause base graphics without visual mods are not that great.

Modifying game files is considered cheating in every online game I’ve played. Your explanation of the graphics may be justifying the ban. Not siding with the devs but playing devils advocate.

Dude. Pvp'ers strip the graphics to the bare minimum to make it easier to see and to dobthe most possible to reduce lag that can kill. Yeah, collision, meshing, even in pve is a pain. As a pve builder I HATE the beds.... they are raggedy trash ugliness... if our survivors can make patches on the cloth "armor" then they can make a basic quilt. 😅

As for what you said about Wildcard not caring, why would we have creature votes? Why would we have sponsored mods? Why would we be getting an upgrade since the current one is not possible to fix? A developer that did not care would have abandoned it a long time ago like Snail does with their games. I agree with your stance but do some research before calling out a developer team that sinks years into giving their community what they ask for.

@@pterafier But have you developed with it? Used it's dev kit and learned the inner working of the game? Right now, it's a mess because the original team mucked it up bad. They tried to fix it and there are more issues popping up with every step. Another huge thing in it is redundancies that really shouldn't happen. I'm a map maker and it is hell to work with currently. I have started work in UE5 to prep for ASA and it is much easier to work with.

I don't normal pay attention to news but this feels like more a reason to just uninstall this game. I love some of ark but if people working on the game seem to cut out huge chunks of their player base when the game cost so much, the game isn't trust worthy enough to play. And I don't even play pvp.

I went from a 1060 6Gb to a 3060ti and with dsr at 1440 the game is gourgeous even with the bugs we all know. Asmo is just being an ass. Also i dont believe he played it last year...

Still a bit of a bummer to hear asmongold shit all over Ark 🥲 Like you said I am glad snail games is somewhat contained on those servers however part of me almost speculates if this is some kind of vip tribe for people paying to have admin capacities. I guess it could also just be SG employees but I imagine they might be trying to make money and I’m sure there’d be people willing to pay.
