My Honest Opinion after 3 Years as a Foreigner Living in the Philippines.

Foreigners can live in the Philippines for 3 years without leaving on a Tourist Visa. You just need to renew every 2 or 6 months for a maximum of 3 years before needing to leave the country. What is the big attraction to living in the Philippines? What does the Philippine have that other countries don't have? Why live or retire to the Philippines? Why choose a big Asian city such as Cebu city rather than live in the province? How do people/retirees spend their time? Retiring in Asia, how would you spend your remaining time on earth?
Low cost of living, diversity, culture, weather, food, scenery, long visas entice foreigners to live in the Philippines. Filipinos are welcome and warm people. Filipinos are often regarded as the most friendliest nation in Asia and nicest people in the world. English is widely spoken throughout the country. The Philippines is included in the top ten English speaking countries in the world. The majority of Filipinos are highly proficient in English, so it is very easy to strike up a conversation and make new friends, but so last century. When you're there you feel like you're stuck in an 80s/90s time warp with the old skool music blaring out and the outdated infrastructure.
Cebu is a vibrant Asian city and favorite travel destination in Asia. Cebu has the best of both world - combining the city life of shopping malls and nightlife with beaches and paradise islands. The Philippines should be on everyone’s bucket list with its beautiful white sand beaches, fabulous idyllic islands, turquoise sea and stunning scenery. The Philippines is a traveller’s paradise and regularly included in top ten favorite places to visit in Asia and affordable, favorite world holiday destination.
Many foreigners/expats choose the Philippines as the best country to retire in Asia and live in paradise. The Philippines is one of the cheapest countries to live in the world with its low cost of living and all year sunshine. Retiring in the Philippines is affordable on a budget of around $520 pcm.

I lived in the Philippines for six years and left November of 2021 as my second term 3 years was up on my tourist visa and I didn't get married and didn't want to put money in their banks for an SRRV visa. I do miss the social aspects of the Philippines with the local women there. I am not much for being a social tart with the other expats...I never found a group of friendly expats...Unlike you, I didn't do as much traveling in the country but hope that one day when I return God willing, I will be able to get around more. Enjoy your random thoughts and all the best...and happy trails.

It seems like the majority of expats spend their time in Cebu. I spent most of my time on Luzon. In Pangasinan, the province didn’t have good internet connection. Gary, Cebu is a joke as far as quality of condos. They are on average smaller, cheaply built and lower quality fixtures compared to what you see in Manila. Internet is pretty terrible in Cebu City... even in the acclaimed "IT Park". If you avoid Cebu City and head to MACTAN you'll roll the dice and possibly get a decent place in Mactan Newtown. However, I lived in 3 units there and all of them had me leaving due to the massive cockroach problem. I live in Makati now and it's a much better standard of living.

You're ok mate. Rikay and Bianca says hello 😂😂 Good video. Your very first girl-friend in Mindano was never going to meet up to your expectations. May I ask you a rhetorical question, What happened to the girl who you lived with for 4 months and then dated on and off? She was a good catch I think. She worked, so obviously she was educated to a certain standard. She contributed financially hey presto she was the jackpot I am telling you. My guess is she had severe "Tampo" issues. From my experience, when a filipina shows you Tampo ( gets angry ) it is because you may have irritated them in one way or the other and they do not understand or do not agree. Always remember filipinas are loving and affectionate. Secret solution for Tampo is (give her a hug) give her some reassurance and let her know that you still love her. Problem solved.
@panan7777
@panan7777 Жыл бұрын
I have raised TWO daughters, with younger being very difficult, like here dad was. Dreaded Tampo is just a cultural conditioning. When daughter said: "You have insulted/upset me, I replied. NO, I can't, YOU did it to yourself. If I would say insults to you in German, just could not get upset. You MUST understand the words and then trigger the learned behavior, YOURSELF." Also after a BIG fight, I just bear hugged her and said: "NO matter what I said to you, when you managed to make me blow up, I WILL ALWAYS be there for you". Rough road, but we made it. They have both turned to be fine, smart, educated ladies with good jobs.

I was born in the Philippines and just went back for the first time in Dec. to get married (I am 55). I think Cebu was impressive compared to all the other cities I went to. I am waiting for our marriage certificate from PSA so that my wife can get out of the country and come to Peru. I hated the food..it was terrible....the streets are terrible...noticed that most men were lazy and had no drive to work or improve themselves...I rented cars a lot...very good prices.....nice beaches hard to find. I loved the ferries.
