I understand the point of this product is instax printer just happened to have web-cam-ish camera attached on it, and it is probably more than enough for the resolution you would expect from instax print out, but I was hoping evolution of this EVO would gear towards to bit more larger sensor with bit more serious lens.
@bigheadtaco5 күн бұрын
@@seokinchung Me too. If this camera does well and more professional photographers and perhaps artists start using it for exhibitions and projects and demands better image quality, maybe Fujifilm will listen. Like I said in the video, it would be cool to see them blend some INSTAX with GFX or X Series cameras and lenses. Let’s see what happens.

I'm getting this for sure. One day I hope they can create a hybrid of a real X camera with a slightly larger sensor, maybe 2/3 to keep the size down and a bright prime with the instax wide printing built in. That way I can use it as my main digital camera AND instant film camera.

Can we just have a analog instax wide with full manual control and a decent enough (don’t need to be sharp like modern lens) lens? Or just make a official instax back for old medium or large format camera. We already have the printer if we want shitty digital print.
@stevenfoon21943 күн бұрын
I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THIS EXISTS! A WIDE EVO? finally.
@drakowerewolf72095 күн бұрын
About keeping the prints back side up to protect from light. Isn't the back side the photosensitive one? When an analogue Instax camera takes a picture, that's the side that gets exposed. So wouldn't you want to keep the back side down to protect from light?
@bigheadtaco4 күн бұрын
Once the image is exposed and the chemistry is spread out to the positive side, you want the positive to properly expose while not being exposed to more light. The negative no longer is important once the chemicals have been spread. Ultimately it’s best to put the print in complete darkness, like my pocket as I mentioned.
@Kevon4205 күн бұрын
Take you are so right, an Instax Square digital camera with at least a decent 1 inch sensor (I bet the one from the Sony RX100 series isnt too expensive) and a real glass lens (maybe 18mm equiv f2) and suddenly a camera like this becomes really exciting. Maybe make an Instax Wide Evo Pro that has APSC, 24MP etc. for the very high end users.
@NandR4 күн бұрын
The problem with that is that the larger the sensor, the more depth the lens need which means a much bigger camera. That's the whole point of making this camera, to make it as small as possible. Anything larger and you should just get the glass lens Instax Wide. Or get the printer and an APS-C camera.

Nope, it did not - it's working as intended. That's the black slide that always prints first and comes in every pack of Instax, doesn't matter if it's Instax Mini, Square, or Wide. Whenever you take the first photo, the black insert will come out first, it's protection so that the actual film doesn't get exposed to light.

Thanks for the preview! I’d like to know how the print quality is when sending a picture from the app to the camera to print. The Mini Evo compresses photos sent via the app, so print quality that are printed from your phone is worse than those taken directly on camera. Based on Fuji’s spec page, it looks like they will also compress via the app with the Wide Evo, but would love to see some real life examples (per Fuji’s spec page: 1600x1260 vs. 800x1260, also 25 dots/mm x 12.5 dots/mm vs. 12.5 dots/mm). There is a hack to change some metadata in your photo to transfer via the sd card to print on the Mini Evo, which gives much better print quality, but that is much more hassle than printing via the app directly. At 16:58 , was that photo sent via the app or via sd card? Do you find the photo not as sharp as those taken directly with the camera? Thanks!

I’m glad to see another Instax Wide camera. However, Fujifilm is so stubborn for not making a Wide equivalent of the Mini 99. It looks like people are excited for the Wide Evo, but let’s see how many of them are going to spend 400€ / $350 on it. Both the SQ10 and the SQ20 were pretty much square versions of this camera, both had low image quality and were discontinued 😬

Can you comment on the responsiveness of the camera? I have the mini Evo and the one thing that bothers me is it feels laggy. Pretty the shutter, there is a delay to when the picture is taken. That also applies when navigating the menus.
@bigheadtaco5 күн бұрын
Yes the response time isn’t like an analogue Instax camera since those are mechanically triggered, while this is electronic. You obviously get use to it, but it’s definitely on the slow side. It autofocuses first, and then takes the photo. It’s even slower if you have flash turned on. It’s not a fast shooting camera.

Interesting to see how the instax line evolves, I do like the colors they used on this one. I used a few instax cameras in the past when I was still doing media work, they were a nice ice breaker when dealing with nervous clients and the kids seemed to like them. They do take up some space in the camera bag. LOL I got around the film cost, I just claimed the film costs on my taxes.
@bigheadtaco5 күн бұрын
I know Fujifilm still hasn't gone back to making 35mm or 120 film cameras, but Instax is still alive and well. I hope they will continue to support both digital and analogue Instax, but this Wide EVO is a good compromise. I rarely take out the Wide 300 because it's just too big. The new EVO Wide is small enough, and as you said, a great ice breaker for many situations.

@ for sure, I think Instax is often a gateway product that gets the younger generation into film photography, which is great. I still wish peel apart film returns, but Fujifilm dismantled their factory, so I don't think it'll come back, at least not at the volume we use to have in the past. Either way, I hope analogue photography never disappears. In fact, I'm sure of it.

350USD? Crazy. The wide printer retails for 150USD. Might as well spend the remaining 200 on a better camera/lens than anything in a Fuji instax, assuming the user doesn't have that already. It's so frustrating that they refuse to make a decent, analog full manual for Instax.

I've been waiting for Fuji to "shrink" their Wide cameras and it's finally hereee. Wide is my favorite format but the size of the Wide 300 and 400 is comically large. Like you, SQ6 is my fave size-wise and not a huge fan of the hybrids, but... I might have to give in. The design and compactness of this with the biggest available instax film is so appealing. It could definitely be a sleeper hit if not for the price. Film itself is expensive in the long run so the camera unit being pricier than most is gonna hurt a bit.

If it's not analog, I don't care for it. It's just a glorified printer. Not interested. There is literally no reason for this to exist; you can just use your phone and a much smaller portable printer using the same tech as this if you really want to do this (and the images will be far better)
@Ruylopez7785 күн бұрын
Here's something Fuji would never do; make an Instax back that we can put on a DECENT camera, instead of churning out all this e-waste. They could even take one of their own discontinued MF camera models and make a back and adapter for it. Their core market will keep buying the cheap, flimsy mini and square bodies that they spit out, and don't need to be updated. An instant printer is cool, but sort of defeats the purpose of the ethos of instant.
