another nice video and reflection or feedback about the x-pro2. do you own one now or this is just an extended loaner from Fuji? hmm.. a little off topic, but would it be safe to say you might be one of the first people that might have a chance to check out a new rumored lens?... such as the 35mm f1 or 23mm f2?.. even if you were, i guess you probably couldn't say anything until after an official announcement from Fuji..

+Wing Yip thanks for watching. I do not own any Fujifilm cameras, I just review them. It doesn't mean I don't like Fuji, in fact I really like the cameras. As for pre-production and embargoed cameras, I am not even allowed to mention I have any knowledge of anything....

Hey Take would ever consider testing a Sony A6300 for street photography?
@bigheadtaco9 жыл бұрын
+Nismor2 I can probably use any camera for the street, and the A6300 would probably be a solid performer. However, I'm not interested in reviewing any Sony cameras at this time, although I do recommend many people to buy Sony's as they are the best bang-for-buck mirrorless cameras out there. Maybe.... one day.... thanks for asking!

@bigheadtaco9 жыл бұрын
+EASTSIDERIDER707 yes many comment about how I talk too much but they don't see what happens before we shoot, and how much we have to edit out due to awkward silences. Most guests don't really know how to act natural in front of the camera and I have to relax them first before I shoot. One guest spent 1 hour trying to relax.... Mr.Chan is my most natural guest. He decided in 1 min he wanted to shoot the video and he was amazing!

Great Show as always. Leaning towards having a articulating screen simply for the Zach Arias Travel/Street Shooting trick in tricky situations...
@bigheadtaco8 жыл бұрын
+tscholent I don't see any disadvantage of having an articulating screen. Not having one just forces the photographer to work harder for certain shots. Some photographers like to set limits to force creativity, but it doesn't work for everyone. I 'force' myself to shoot mostly with my iPhone for my Instagram account, even though it's easier to shoot with a 'real camera' but I love the challenge. But not everyone does. Articulating screens are very functional and useful and does not take up that much room like it use to.
@ronenzilberman11058 жыл бұрын
+bigheadtaco The idea of using the screen in street shoots (according to Arias) is to make the subject(s) think you ARE amateur… so you aim the camera up 60 degrees and pretend to take a shot then bring the camera down (as close as possible near the subject) to “look at the result” and take the shot (other then that I see no purpose for the screen).

+Faldrian thanks. Shooting video on the street is complicated and takes a lot of time. I will only be able to produce those type of videos once every month or two. This entire video was shot impromptu with my mobile kit (iPhone) that fits in my bag, shot in 30 min total, and edited in a few hours. A street shoot often takes weeks to produce.

Great review.... I love the look of the X-Pro2. I'm looking to move from the Sony a6000 to a Fuji. I've been interested in moving to a XT-1 as the price is very good and the range of Fuji lenses are amazing. Would I be happy or disappointed moving from 24 to 16mp ? I just want great images.
@bigheadtaco8 жыл бұрын
+Bill Paxton the best way to see if you would be happy with the resolution is to go to DPReview.com and download their images of both the X-T1/X-T10/X-E2 and the Sony A6000 and look for yourself. You will get extremely good resolution because of the lack of an AA filter. If you shoot RAW and have ACR you will have control over the image and make sure you get the right mix of sharpness, shadow and highlight detail and image noise.

Why does everyone say the X-Pro1 flash sync is 1/180th? You can't set that speed. The camera only allows fine tuning of 1/160th or 1/200th. Try it yourself. The X-E2 and later cameras have the marked 1/180th on dial but the older cameras that speed wasn't possible. Sheesh.
@bigheadtaco9 жыл бұрын
+Rediscover Film I know, I also found it weird, but that's what all the literature says. My guess is you can set it to 1/125 or 1/250th and use the rear dial to fine tune the shutter speed in 1/3 stops to get to 1/180th as the maximum sync speed. Also if you have it on aperture priority and allow the camera to choose the shutter speed for you, even though you can't physically see it on the dial, it can choose up to a maximum of 1/180th. Saying all this, you're right, it's pretty lame to not have 1/180th marked if that is the actual speed for max sync.
@EDHBlvd9 жыл бұрын
+bigheadtaco no you can't. That is what I was saying you can only fine tune to 1/160 or 1/200.

sometimes i think myself that why fuji obsessed with aps-c size sensor . they can put full frame sensor on their cameras but.. think about a7rii sensor with x-trans technology and with Fuji lenses..
@bigheadtaco9 жыл бұрын
+GKhan thanks for your comment. I don't think Fuji is obsessed with the cropped sensor format, it was an informed engineering decision they made 4 years ago to keep the lenses moderate in size, weight and price. I think many gear and technology-centric photographers are the ones who are obsessed with the full frame sensor platform, assuming that the size of the sensor equals a better camera. Coming from the film era, did you know this type of thinking existed towards the 35mm format? Many felt that 35mm was for amateurs and that real pros shot medium format. That was silly thinking, and its the same thinking that have people now pointing to the 35mm digital format as 'pro' and superior and that the cropped APS-C format is only for amateurs. Fujifilm are bypassing the 35mm digital format and going straight into digital medium format for those who are seeking higher resolution performance via larger sensor. I think this is a sensible solution.
@GKhanKutar9 жыл бұрын
Actually what i want to say is they can keep the body size of their cameras and put the full frame sensor in their cameras. Leica has smaller lenses than Fuji and they can be used for their full frame cameras. Fuji has the technology so I believe if they want they can create. Also you can not deny A7rii sensor 2 times better than Fuji's new 24megapixel sensor.. I love my Xt-1 camera and I think i will not buy x-pro2 or x-t2 . I will be waiting for Fujifilm Medium Format Camera. This will be big jump from aps-c size. (Thanks for your answer! , we love you Taco! :)

+GKhan Leica's m mount rangefinder lenses are amazing and were designed almost 70 years ago. They vignette pretty bad wide open, but that's sort of the appeal I guess, at least I don't mind it. However, with modern lenses with image stabilization and autofocus, they can not be made as compact. If you look at Leica's new lenses for the SL and the T which includes OIS and AF, the SL lenses are ridiculously huge and the T lenses are as big as anyone else. As for backwards compatibility of installing a full-frame sensor onto the existing X mount, it won't happen. There isn't enough space, unless there is a way to optically correct for the larger sensor. However, looking at the mount in relation to the sensor size, there just isn't the space. As I mentioned, Fujifilm has no intention of making the X mount ILC system as a full frame and I don't think they need to. The Sony A7r mrk II has more resolution due to more pixels, but that is not always directly related to sensor size. The Samsung Galaxy 6s smartphone camera has 16mp just like the Fujifilm X-T1, but there is no way that's a representation of image quality. But you're right the Sony A7's with their new sensor tech is amazing, but again, I don't think it's just about sensor size. the new A6300 is also a great camera. The greatest weakness of Sony is that they focus on the technology and the body, not as much on lenses. Fujifilm creates a better ecosystem with more firmware update support and a wider selection of lenses. So does the Olympus and Panasonic M43 system, which has an even smaller sensor. If you want higher IQ Fujifilm, just wait for the medium format cameras. Just be warned that it will probably $3-5K for the bodies, and a couple thousand for solid prime lenses. If it's worth it to you that much to have that much more resolution for whatever you're doing, that's great. For the rest of us (I mean like 80-90% of the population) APS-C and M43 is a solid choice and the best balance between resolution, price, size, weight. Thanks again for your comment, much appreciated.
