Yes, the sound is the actual Ram collision. When we are at a certain position in the Valley, it really does sound like a gun shot with an echo.

The impact can kill a human instantly, their skulls are 5” thick as they’re biologically designed to protect their brains from fatal impact. Even the blood around their brains increases post collision which works to further create more padding and protection during these battles. Nature is amazing.

They have a combination of systems that allow them to do this. They have bumpers or shock absorbers behind thier horns. They change the blood pressure in their head to accommodate the insane forces they generate. Also it helps that thier horns being so heavy, it makes thier necks insanely huge, and strong. I've caped out more sheep heads than guys will ever hunt or see in the wild. The anatomy is very interesting and to be highly respected

Rams are double skulled. They’re built for it. Other animals aren’t. They’ll kill anything they hit instantly. Rams are natures perfect punching machine.

Their horns deflect a good amount of the impact and their brain has a layer of blood around it that cushions whats left. Also their neck is designed to handle impact much better than most other animals

A hard hit from a Ram to a Human would be an instant fatality... and Bighorn sheep can handle doing this hundreds of times a Day, during the Rut. They really are built like Tanks with incredible Strength and Agility. Thank You Darman!
