Damn, is it good to see this review! The 1999 Mummy is a terrific example of the 30s pulp adventure genre alongside Indiana Jones. I wish Stephen Sommers directed the third Mummy movie and other classic adventure films, rather than GI Joe. Boy, is it gonna be rough when we get to the third movie and the Tom Cruise reboot…

While I haven't watch the original movie yet,I do think that the reboot is the better version of the Mummy,hell I love watching the movie when I was a kid and to this day I still do,thanks for the review Jack,it was entertaining,enjoyable,funny as hell,and this make me go watch the Mummy and the intired Trilogy,although that last part you said feels like a foreshadowing for a awful and terrible forsaken future for the Mummy franchise and I'm not just talking about that Unholy creepy creature that you accidentally released.

While this movie is ok for what it is and gives a feel for Ancient Egypt, Boris Karloff in the original mummy is just better in my own opinion, the scenes of him and Helen are chilling and you could feel the characters emotions when they speak. Ankh and Imhotep in the original have very little scenes together but Wow Zita gives an incredible performance as Ankh/Helen. I love Boris Karloff as Imhotep he is wonderful and very sexy in the role It's his voice WOAH! yes im a woman and i love the original above the 1999 version of the story.

The Mummy starring Brendan Fraser is fantastic. The Mummy Returns is great. The Mummy 3: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor is entertaining but my least favorite of The Mummy trilogy.

To be honest that was a good review and I’m gonna agree with every single sentence you said it has great characters great action and a fun do you story there’s a new reimagine of the mummy and maybe you’re right this could’ve been what the 1996 king con should’ve looks like if we did got that we would never got this but somewhere in the future maybe someone out there can actually might get the draft and managed to do it not for public sense the monsterverse is busy but maybe we can make it own as fans because what can I say online likes to do some fanfiction short film stories let’s do what we can do and make it when it was meant to be

The fight with Imhotep’s priests and the soldiers was and still is my favourite scene. Only recently I realised they remade the Argonauts’ skeleton fight. The mummified soldiers moves just like them, even the attack scream. Sommers should really be a Harryhausen fan.
