So why do they allow yellow belts to compete with black belts who are way more advanced? I love kyokushin but I feel that is a definite Hazard to the younger less-experienced belts. I understand brown belts vs. Black belts but you don't see any yellow belts going up against other under ranks. That roundhouse kick to the back of the head that yellow belt took could have been a lot worse for him.

Introducing face punches will radically change the way these guys charge in face first with their hands down.

Si quieres golpes a la cara existen las competiciones shinken shobu, que son de kyokushin solo con gopes a la cara

Brutal. I'd be watching out for those knees and spinning back kicks to the head. One thing for sure, no matter who scores, last man standing wins..

Some of these guys are just poorly trained and conditioned to get continually beaten on as we see. Very little, if any, defense and some of the body shots should not have dropped them. Before any criticism of my comment, just know that I am a 5th Dan Kyokushin black belt, trained by Soshu Shigeru Oyama in NY, and I started in 1982. I've competed at low and high level, as well as teaching for almost 30 of the 35 years I've been training... so I know exactly what I am talking about. If you don't even know who Soshu Oyama was, then you have no authority to comment.

kind of agree, but those matches are hold on 2011, they are new guys, kyokushin changed since late 90s in my point of view. new kyokushin style is more like kickboxing games, more conbinations. old styles kyokushin fight more depend on phisically tough, foucsing on finish strik. new kyokushin guy not tough than old kyokushin guys , but maybe this is a kind of evolution. i am chinese from beijing ,i been trained in auckland new zealand, my shiham is steven takiwa, his toughness impress me. i am the light weight champion in new zealand kyokushin national tournament in 2005

To me KK always was an exchange of blows to see who cant take the most punishment. The no face/head contact rules, totally fucked up KK as a martial art, and spectator sport. Same problem with WTF TKD, ITF TKD much better, including MT and all KB practitioners who transition to the cage far quicker than most who come from the backward traditional rules based formats. This has nothing to do with individual brilliance or any particular technique, you're always going to get exceptional people in any mode, even the most restricted ones. Do us all a favour and drop the dumb rules and make KK an infinitely better spectator experience all round combat system in one fell swoop. Baseball bats don't hit back by themselves.
