The most obnoxious thing about Shane Dawson (obnoxious, not horrifying, that list is much longer) is his habit of depicting himself as poor while sitting in his mansion or riding around in his golf cart. remember when shane dawson capitalized off of bobby burns in his "meeting my hater" series and effectively turned his audience against bobby who only ever critiqued shane's content and then allowed bobby to make videos on his channel for some reason and, because his audience hated bobby for being a "shane anti", they sent bobby massive amounts of hate which caused bobby to have several mental breakdowns and shane, in response, just kicked bobby off his channel and never talked to him again. real empath vibes

The second he turned on the camera to record this documentary it was for performance. If his reason for any of the business decisions was solely for profit, he would not have recorded any of it as that was an excess expense. If he was doing it "for the good" of any entity, he would have saved the money that it cost to produce the documentary and spent it to actually benefit it. @@mayorlewispurpleshorts9693 it infuriates me too. I became aware that he was shit thankfully a year after he manipulated millions of new viewers including my entire grade at school into supporting his content for some reason. So glad I snapped out of his bullshit earlier than most and learned to call him out on this. My dad had to get three separate jobs to get health insurance that would pay for necessary rehab to help me function and learn how to adapt with my disability. My insurances literally were sending a clear message to a 15 year old who’s basic functionality was rapidly deteriorating and was on the rapid downwards spiral working her way to becoming bed bound by 16 (I still am at 19.) that my life was not worth it and my quality of life was worthless. It felt like I was getting the message time after time again that my functionality meant nothing all while getting abused medically in the hospital the rehab was at and their other programs. If we had had the money it wouldn’t have been so hard to get basic necessary healthcare. To get treatment to prevent ending up where I am now. To go out of state regardless being born ina city with “the best hospital in the world” and world class hospitals to only be abused by them. We could’ve gotten the genetic testing which we’ve been doing for a year and still aren’t even close to being done because of how much insurance refuses to approve anything necessary. We could’ve put me in the hospital im in now and gotten proper healthcare without the abuse and not end up with me reduced to existence. My parents could get their own individual genetic testing. They wouldn’t have to worry about their medication copays and our non existent income from both being now fully disabled. It still is insane even with a care coordinator a proper medical team who has my health and best interest in heart and a case worker all doing the most. We’re lucky to be on government insurance now but that’s still insane to work with getting basic needs fulfilled. At the time of this going down I was really starting to get turned off by Shane videos. they went from a mindless escape to something that actively angered me. He was riding in his gwagon with his 6 dollar coffee in a Gucci jumpsuit crying about being poor and I’d just get so angry. He’s obviously rich and is acting as if he’s not to appear relatable while in reality slapping all viewers in the face like it’s some joke. like he wasn’t a walking status symbol of privilege and I just wanted money to relieve my parents stress and to get my life back because losing my life at that time was starting to make others get heavily affected by it around me. Yet here’s him being beyond icky attitude wise to his friends and being rude to people around him in general and having this odd “humor” and then making the internet try and feel bad for his privileged rich white peers who fucked up and got a reasonably angry response from everyone all while demonizing already stigmatized disorders and glorifying other creators who have done beyond horrible things and some who are just straight up terrible humans (I think tana is the only series he’s done where she could be redeemable. She seems like she’s starting to grow up and actually grow and as long as she’s moving forward to get healthy mature and heal. I hope she continues to make baby steps.) . Shane just has made a career off of insulting his audience (even committing CSA to fans.) and playing the invalid sympathy card and I just don’t understand that man and hope he doesn’t have a chance at ever sliming his way back. Especially since he wants us to forget so he won’t have to apologize

Those scenes of them walking through the factory with the workers just being like background scenery to their success is an existential capitalist horror I never thought I’d see on KZbin. Edit: I’ve seen some comments asking why it’s weird because it’s just a job or about How It’s Made shows where they show the same thing. It wasn’t about just showing the factory and the workers, that in itself would have been just cool behind the scenes footage a la How It’s Made. It was the framing that the documentary gave it of it being a moment of Shane and Jeffery looking out on their empire like “look at all this work being done for YOU, you deserve this labor for your success.” That’s why I personally found it so gross and I assume why Joel did as well.

@@biggiesmartypants yes I agree with that. JS is a business-oriented person and for such a big company, 20 for cost of materials alone seems much too high, especially considering he seems to have his own dedicated factory/production line for his products. I'm sure Jeffree and his team knew how misleading it was to say, "all of the materials are high quality" followed by saying the palette cost 20 dollars to make. One would only assume that 20 was referring to cost of materials... yet considering cogs (cost of goods) and/or any other fees, the cost of materials could easily be as low as 10 dollars or less in reality.

I don't think most people who are empaths even realize they're empaths. They probably just think they're 'sensitive' and feel bad about themselves because mean people shame them for crying too much. And then try not to talk about it because they feel bad. I know that's what I'd think if I were an empath. I would 100% just assume I'm overly emotional.

Their vapidness, their ultra-materialism, their complete lack of shame or humbleness, too see that their whole point of existence is to make money off of kids, this whole feeling that they not only don't see that there might be something wrong with that but that they don't even seem to have a concept of right and wrong. it's only something worth mentioning if he actively did charity events or donated publicly to foundations for lower-income families. at least jefree gave people pandemic relief funds. I'm upper-middle class and i've seen far too many kids from lower-income families get new money and spend it all instead of saving and investing it. one girl i know was moaning about how she couldn't afford college and thought she was special "coming from a poor background" (which is so dumb because most of the kids i went to school with actually came from 3rd world countries and their parents had landed amazing jobs, myself included) and not even 10 minutes later she said that she wanted to buy a saddle for a horse at a horse-riding academy she went to. a saddle that cost 1-2 THOUSAND bucks for an animal that wasn't even hers, just some rich dude's horse who he lets ppl ride at a fancy school. i understand she wanted to be a vet but instead of spending her money and time at the stables and logging it in as work with animals, she just put in the minimum service hours required for graduation and left it at that. i don't like perpetuating a cycle that leaves families poor but she honestly deserves to be poor if it means that she learns how to properly manage her money. :((

Say what you want about Tati, she doesn’t act like she’s poor now because she grew up poor. She acknowledges she’s loaded

OMG I THOUGHT THAT TOO!! and also when he would continuously say things like "im fat" "im poor" and all the "relatable" self depreciation stuff that just didn't slide with me around that time when he started being around Jeffrey.
