Sanremo's cover night is organised in a way that you can bring a guest (or more) to duet with you. Most of the times people will call for illustrious guests that will add to their performance with sentimental value from the audience (big names in Italy's music history, but rarely international names such as Skin this year). Another thing that can be done is calling a newer entry to share the spotlight and allow them to be noticed by the general public (after all, the whole show is a huge visibility event in Italy and Europe due to eurovision). Big mama chose three girls that are definitely not as known as most of the other guests (maybe safe for Gaia, the first girl) for that night, and chose to share her spotlight with them. I think it shows a very selfless side of her and i did appreciate the girls getting their own moment in the song. Big mama herself debuted last year as a guest in somebody else's cover (Elodie), which shows just how big of a boost a gesture like this can give to a less well known singer, as it got her her own spot in the competition this year. In the end she did benefit from that and now she is passing it on to some friends. My hope is for them to gather more followers, mostly for Sissi (the girl with the insane voice at the end doing runs throughout the song), as she is the least known among them.

About the black outfit, that's not really a dress code...it's part of a game called FantaSanremo that is played for the entire duration of the festival. Basically, you create a team of 5 artists, and the get you points based on certain actions they perform on stage. Total black outfits would get you 10 points, for instance. Stealing items from the public would also get you points (that's what the purse was about). Big Mama and many other artists were really playing along 😂. I had her in my team, she's great!

I understand were you're coming from but the cover night is mostly about the best perfomance and having fun because it's something to also add another day for the festival your placement is important in the general classification it's accumulative till the last night and at the end you have the top 5 to have another vote without the other nights points, so when you say the guest had more part to shine they're not really voting big mama here she's mostly a rapper it's her strong suit so it's actually a surprise to see her sing so much too but they're voting her perfomance with the other girls also for example other artist try to bring famous artist and do cover of their songs it's also fun to see the most random combination of genre and age in this night, some reason why she placed low might be because she's not very new year also very progressive for traditional italy it's very easy if it's your first time and people not know you to just go here to lose to more famous artists, there's this game we do in italy about sanremo which is you get 5 artist in the competition basically is about who will win but there's a lot of rules that makes the festival fun because artist knows and play with it, one of the rules can be all black look, giving flowers to the director, having sunglasses and most are because of old experiences in the festival one of this is about artist robbing a purse in the audience 😂 and that's what she did, obviously is not something everyone do even if there's this game going on so it's very exciting 😆 and of course the message in her rap add to the perfomance but it's lost in the language barrier

The covers night in Sanremo it's also about try to promote different artist, often oldies to celebrate or talented newcomers not that mainstream, sometimes with peculiar combination like choirs, dis, etc, but always in a meaningful way, that's why sometimes the main artist just do wants to let shine the guests.

hi !! please react to mahmood: both the single he brought to sanremo this year (called ‘tuta gold’) and the cover he brought during covers night (‘com’è profondo il mare’). his song is the most streamed both in italy and globally and i’m fairly sure they didn’t let him win this year just because he already won three times, even though he was one of the favorites of the public
