I'm currently in the hospital with rhabdomyolysis and my CK levels were at 55,000 on Saturday. Today, they are at 3,600. This whole experience has been scary as hell but I'm glad that I could find someone else that went through this as well, makes me feel not so alone. So glad for your recovery, fingers crossed I'll be back out in the real world tomorrow.

The only reason why I went to the hospital was because I went to go get a physical and there was microscopic blood in my urine which was caused by the rhabdo.

I've been sober for 1 year exactly, I was messed up, and passed out on my stomach with my arm underneath my body, I was out for about 10-11 hours without moving, I woke up and my left arm was just hanging and totally numb, I couldn't hear out of my left ear, and my left leg was in pain, I couldn't lift my arm or move or feel it whatsoever. I went to the hospital and was lifelined to Indianapolis where they said I had compartment syndrome and Rhabdo, I was putting out 100 milliliters of black urine, when 3000 is the norm, they thought my arm may have to go, and they ended up saving it. I had an open fasciotomey, and dialysis and was in the hospital for over a month....i remember at one point I asked the doctor before I was taken to Indy if I was gonna die, he stopped looked at me and said I don't know, he then proceeded to cut into my neck to put in a catheter. I looked at my wife who was 9 months pregnant and I was devastated....i am clean now, I have a gigantic scar on my peck, and my arm but I learned, and I i have been sober since 12/21/2017, and God took the desire for it away....

Hey Noah, I just got discharged yesterday from the hospital after spending 7 nights there. I was diagnosed with Rhabdo, compartment syndrome, and transaminitis. I was also given magnesium sulfate because my levels were so low. They also had concerns of my liver functioning. Both my arms were in so much pain that I couldn’t extend both of them. I couldn’t do anything. I was given Oxaycodine to help ease the pain. I also asked for ice packs throughout the day. Sucked so much that I struggled to do my activities of daily living for those 3 days. The highest my CK level was during my hospitalization was 44,000. The first 72 hours I could not help but worry that am I gonna be diagnosed with kidney failure? Is my time up in this world? However I stayed positive and believed in the process. I got discharged 7 days later with my CK at 1,600. Glad you’re doing better. People need to be educated on this. Take care of your body, and listen to it.

I was having a long due lower back near kidney area muscular stiffness (as stiff as mooring wire). I found swelling on my wrist that looked like a ball bulge which used ( area where I had broken wrist at young age of 11). And swelling on my knee side which I sprained about 6 months ago. I couldn't walk for almost a day as the pain is like the experience of suffering from broken bone or cracked bone. I did 400 squats and 50 sit ups, they told me to jumping jacks and I literally couldn’t even one. Just fell on the floor. The only symptoms I felt were the extreme pain and the aggravation. I was told by my cellmate to stand up for myself and even after being beat to the absolute max I decided I was gonna fight the guy. Side note but on’t worry I won, the guy got sent to PC and I got my respect in the unit so it felt good 😂 everyone in there knew what I went thru so they were trying to help get thru the fact that I couldn’t even walk. I had the oil colored piss in there but didn’t think anything of it. Got out on a Sunday and went to work Monday as a useless fuck but worked really hard and just got out and felt great. Tuesday morning tried to take a shit and just fell into the toilet when trying to sit, still oil color piss. I finally said this enough. Went to the hospital and they had no idea what was wrong (rare) neither did I, expected to get out that night. Little did I know I would spend the next week sitting in a hospital bed in the most depressing state just watching shitty tv, my ck was over 20,000. I caught my rhabdo early somehow. Muscle soreness was mild but not going away and unlike other times where it was just muscle soreness like Dom's the biggest difference was I was unable to entirely expand my muscle like he was not able to do. This is the biggest indicator of it being more then Doms. Is when muscle elasticity and expansion becomes limited. They tested my CK and it was at like 15k. Was in the hospital at mgh for 2 days. They released me when my CK got under 500. I felt no pain at any point. But this is the clue to when you went to far. Is dehydration and muscle range is limited is the clear initial indicator of rhabdo so get check immediately if you feel this. If you have full range of your muscle but it's a little sore then it's probably not rhabdomyolysis. But it's in the upper section of doms. But don't wait for it to hurt. If flexibility is lost that's the sign.

I had rhabdo from playing soccer for 4 hours in extreme heat like 100 degrees and my body lost its water so fast and my kidney had nothing to feed off and function so it start freaking out and starting painful cramps all over my body, after the cramps I couldn’t move for 2 more days in the hospital and still now it’s been over a month and I can’t even walk normal, Everytime I walk it is so weak that sometimes I fall because of the muscles that I have lost from it and the protein. It also sucks so much because u can’t workout or play any sports until ur fully recovered. U can only stay home and when that happens, mostly u just wanna eat sleep and play games.

How long did it take for you to get back to working out? I am about 2 months out and still am having arm pain (I also had bicep rhabdo). My levels went up to 50k in the hospital. I recently started having muscle twitches all over my body, but starting in my calves. Did any of that happen to you? Thanks!

Got treated for rhabdo last month. I’m also experiencing the muscle twitches around my legs. Can I ask what your post-treatment plan/care was advised to you by your doctor? I was advised to take sodium bicarbonate 3x a day for 30 days.

Thanks for this video. It put my mind at ease. I do take fenofibric acid and for a long time now. To help keep my LDL and triglycerides in check I do jog 3 times a week with a 20 lbs back pack and weight bearing exercises twice a week. BTW, Im 66 years old. To complicate matters, earlier this year I was diagnosed with Parkinson's and my neurologist wants me to exercise even MORE! Recently Ive noticed darkening of my urine but not to the point of deep tea coloring. I dont have muscle tenderness or painful stiffness (yet stiffness is a Parkinsons trait.) I must drink more fluids though....

Noah thanks for posting your story. How is your recovery going? I had a similar situation. As I was admitted for 4 nights to the hospital on January 8th this year. My cpK was at 98k and the rhabdo was in my arms from doing kipping pullups in a Crossfit workout. I'm okay now. And slowly starting my recovery. I plan on running this week. Not sure when I will start weights again. Curious to know how you are going about your recovery? My left bicep still feels a little funny at times (like I slept on it) no where near the pain when I was in the hospital. I'm waiting for this to go away completely, I think it's because I favored my left arm in my recovery as the right arm (my dominant arm) was in more pain/swelling initially even though the pain/swelling levels were similar. Anyway I hope this finds you well and thanks again.

My cpk after a drug overdose was 56000. I also am experiencing alot of leg and foot pain still. My leg was where the circulation was cut off. I was on the floor after my overdose from cocain for about 16 hours. I spent 10 days in the hospital then straight to rehab for 30 days and I just got out. The rehab was not a good one so they didn't really care about the pain I've been in. Why am I still in so much pain 40 days later in my leg and foot (alot of nerve pain too)? What kind of doctor can I see about this?

I want to know if I have rhabdomyolysis, since we have been in quarantine for about 4 months now I decided to do my first bicep curls after 4 months of no workouts at all. The first day went well and did a high rep session (50) reps each arm since I only had a 15 Pound dumbbell. The next day I felt normal soreness in both my arms from the workout and didn't mind to much about it. Day 2 of doing bicep curls I decided to amp up the session and decided to do (100) reps on each arm while taking 1-3 break periods throughout each (10) reps. After the workout I went straight to bed. The next Morning "Which is today this message is being Sent", my right arm has this stiffness and a really painful soreness. I'm not able to fully extent my right arm without enduring pain. My left arm is completely fine, I'm able to extend my left arm without enduring pain. Do you have any advice to recover from this or exercises I'm able to do? Please Reply
