I grew up with this game and even though its really strange and difficult I still have a soft spot for it. I think the dont knock signs are telling you to punch the signs weirdly enough, when you do you can find items like the anger orbs that can make you turn into super werewolf for a minute which is pretty cool. Also both the normal guy and the werewolf have charge attacks, Data East was very odd about hiding abilities. It gets insanely hard by the end of the game and anyone who can finish this game is a beast! xD great video!
@BigOleWords3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I think I learned the charge attack thing after the fact along with how the different colored power-ups worked. Kinda obtuse to figure that out on your own, but at the time this was released everyone who played it also owned the manual which covers all that.
@JohnDoe-wq5eu2 жыл бұрын
@@BigOleWords I stumbled across a video a little while back that talked about how games were made much harder because the important information was in the typically immediately lost manual. So if you got a game from say a rental store you were pretty much screwed sometimes. In a pre-internet world that makes complete sense. Also I think it was how Nintendo in the US tried to screw over rentals. Which again makes perfect sense.
@BigOleWords2 жыл бұрын
@@JohnDoe-wq5eu Absolutely true. I always go into these games kinda blind and then try to figure things out as I go, but some of the moves and items are way too cryptic considering the controller only has two buttons.
@Gatorade69 Жыл бұрын
@@JohnDoe-wq5eu They also made some games super hard to combat the rental market. If you could rent a game and beat it in a night or two then that's not a sale so they artificially made some games much harder on purpose. Bayou Billy is an example the Japanese version is actually pretty good while the American version is an exercise in frustration.

I remember getting trapped between a wall and a pedestal holding a blue W. Powerups, or in this case, powerdowns, don't vanish over time; and you have a time limit. Blue Ws if you're furry, unfurrys you. If you're not furry, it straight up kills you. The other thing that irked me of course is the controls and overall movement. Who ever heard of a werewolf that can't run? The limited mobility makes boss battles nigh impossible because they are often much faster. Fun fact: there's random bolts of lightning atop the Mega Man building. Accidentally touching them is instant death.
@BigOleWords Жыл бұрын

A few tips for people who never played this: If you collect 5 orbs as a Werewolf you gain a super power up which obligerate everything in few hits, so always try to collect those for bosses. Also if you hold attack button as a human chatacter hes doing an long range attack which os far more powerful than normal attacks. Such a geat game, also hard af in later stages. PS: you can backflip through those annoying spikes with pipes above them
