I live in Norway and all the schools near me have put out the pride flag as it is pride month. And nobody even care. Why because we have more important thing to worry about, than a harmless flag. @@damien86 The whole reason schools teach LBGTQI+ issues is because 1 in five kids are LBGTQI+ and 60% of LGBTQI+ youth have attempted suicide due to the prejudice they face. If you are against schools teaching children that LGBTQI+ exist and if you are one its ok and you are valid then you are probably a bigot and your child need to hear it more than most kids.

She probably _is_ standing for democracy in the sense of representing the majority, but considering the context she’s _also_ representing the protection of *minority* rights from being thereby trampled. Right-wingers give lip service to the latter, but really mean by it a privilege of their favored minority to _deprive_ others of rights. I wish I could give this lady a big hug. I'm not a member of the LGBTQ+ community, but I briefs they deserve have the same rights that I do. They exist. They are people. Family is what you make it. My husband and I can't have children so it dog and or cats are our children. We're a very happy little family. My daughter has 3 mom's, her adoptive mom, me. Her biological mother and her ex-boyfriends mom. She has 3 grandmas and 3 grandpa's because of divorce. When she was in elementary school, they did a project that asked what happened at her birth. I was always truthful with her, but I didn't want to tell her, I was in the room as a spectator, but her father had to wait in the lobby, obviously. I would have loved to have this book available.

As a teacher I have taught many young students some had a mom and dad, some lived with grandparents, some lived with aunts and uncles, some had two moms, some had two dads , some had just a single dad, some just a single mom, some had no siblings, some had one sibling, some had ten to twelve siblings, there are MANY different types of families these young students come from…all different…but all had one thing in common..they were loved and cherished by the adults and siblings in their family. Each child should be made to feel accepted, loved, included…not ostracized by bigoted people. I teach in parochial school so we try to treat each child as Jesus would. No way was anyone ever made to feel singled out or shamed. It’s terrible the awful people out there today the spread their venomous hate even onto little children….I know I’m glad my conscience is clear.

I feel so stupid . I quit going to my family Methodist church at 15. Some 41 years ago . I spoke to our female assistant pastor and said the kids were mean to Stewart because he was effeminate : Gay or homosexual didn’t have any real meaning to me at the time . Republican activist Randal David Ankeney pleaded guilty to attempted sexual assault on a child. Republican Congressman Dan Crane had sex with a female minor working as a congressional page. Republican activist and Christian Coalition leader Beverly Russell admitted to an incestuous relationship with his step daughter. Republican congressman and anti-gay activist Robert Bauman was charged with having sex with a 16-year-old boy he picked up at a gay bar. Republican Committee Chairman Jeffrey Patti was arrested for distributing a video clip of a 5-year-old girl being raped. Ultra Christian former reality TV Star Josh Duggar sentenced to 12.5 years in federal prison for child pornography in 2022. Former Commerce Department aide during the Trump administration, Adam Hageman was sentenced to 5.5 years in prison for possessing child porn on Sep 30, 2022. Republican candidate, Randy Gene Kaufman was arrested for publicly jerking to preschoolers in Arizona on 10-20-22. Former school librarian who was fired after being caught spraying "groomer" all over the library was caught and arrested with child porn among other disgusting things on 3-9-23

@@damien86 The whole reason schools teach LBGTQI+ issues is because 1 in five kids are LBGTQI+ and 60% of LGBTQI+ youth have attempted suicide due to the prejudice they face. They teach it to save lives. If you are against schools teaching children that LGBTQI+ exist and if you are one its ok and you are valid then you are probably a bigot and your child need to hear it more than most kids.

That's the point of all the anti-LGBTQ hysteria. Identify a group that's vulnerable, create a crisis focused on the scapegoat, and get everyone to support your policies aimed at getting rid of them. The right are the ones sexualizing everything, including children. As a child I would not have interpreted the lines in this book to be about homeosexualiy and if it was I wouldn't have cared. Children are more logical and smarter than people give them credit for. I grew up with a babysitter I called Grandmother and I considered her sons my uncles and her daughter in-law my "second" mommy. No one questioned why I had two mom's or so many grandparents. While this book is most likely about same sex couples it is the adults that stress this and in a negative light. Most young children are light years away from adults on the issue of acceptance.
