I skipped Turkey this year too. Just made a chicken pot pie and called it good lol. Always next year to be traditional.

If more people were as happy as this family the world would be a better place. Happiness doesn’t depend on the space you live in.I grew up very poor and that made me more thankful for what I have now. I have a nice house now and I thank God everyday for a warm place in the winter and a cool place in the summer. I love watching this family!

This year was the first Thanksgiving that was REALLY different for our family, too. We cooked a turkey breast and still made cornbread dressing and cranberry sauce, but it was just our household for the meal. We gave thanks, shared gratitude, and were pretty low-key for the Holiday. Even when something is "traditional", not stressing about making everything "perfect" is a big plus and being able to connect with family is wonderful.

This year was just my husband and myself, our turkey was still frozen so we had ribeye steaks and was greatfull, and smoked the turkey Sunday, it was wonderful

It's great to have the new equipment to help with your harvest season. I know it's hard to dispatch animals you've cared for so long, but you take such good care of them and offer wonderful gratitude for their sacrifice, I love that.

You had some beautiful, healthy turkeys to harvest. I love knowing where my food comes from and am so thankful for those like you who are able to do the dirty work. I think I would make a terrible farmer with a small(er) operation because I could see myself getting too attached to the animals.

I need to upgrade my Plucker for turkeys as well. However, this year I tried taking off the feet before plucking and found it worked MUCH better without the feet getting caught up on the edges. Much less hand plucking required which saved lots of time!

When people started calling Thanksgiving "Turkey Day," I decided a turkey would not rule that day. It's not about serving turkey; it's about giving thanks to God or whomever you choose. Just be thankful!!!
@kmcquack8989Ай бұрын
I bought a half turkey that was cut sternum to tail. It was just the perfect amount. I brined it in some apple juice I had that was just past its prime. Perfecto I grew my own turkeys one year and was amazed how hard they were to process. The tail feathers on the BB are so elegant looking though. They make great gift add ons.

I probably did everything wrong, but i had such good harvest of animals & garden. I did take my poultry to the Amish who dispatched, defeathered & gutted them. i forget the cost, discounts for letting them have feet & the entrails... But i came home & prepared for freezer. Several hours every 6-8 weeks

I was wondering when you were finally going to get one of those contraptions to carry heavy boxes, etc. It's great to be strong and use your muscles to keep them healthy but you should not hurt your back temporarily or permanently. Good thinking, Mike.

🦃 The new dunker and shackles device is a game changer. I’ve processed a lot of chickens and can see having this device would be easier on your body because turkeys are sooo heavy. How much did the turkey weigh? Who guessed the weight? What was the weight of your largest turkey? Thanks for sharing your life on the farm.

I winder if you guys have the information recoded to share with us all on the costs of rasing turkeys ,it's something I've considered here, though I'm not sure if selling a few table birds a year could cover the cost of growing a few for ourselves..glad you all had a lovely thanksgiving,your own way :) 😊
