HOW I MIRROR FINISH A BAR
I start with an 80 grit flap disc on my angle grinder then I use my drill with 50 mm round sanding discs . I start with 150 grit then go through the following Grits 240-400-800 Then once I get to the following Grits I use a small squirt of WD-40 1200-1500-2000-2500-3000. The WD40 helps to lubricate the discs and stops the sanding disk binding up with the metal powder . Then after that I use my buffer wheel on my bench grinder to get a perfect mirrored finish on it.

I have a neighbor who is a pool/spa contractor, and I've received two defunct pool heaters from him very similar to what you tore down in this video. Sadly, I'm not yet ready to smelt, so I simply turned the innards in for scrap, for lack of storage space. The brass and copper that come out of those heaters is incredible! Plus, one of the old heaters contained kaowool (too decrepit to salvage) and the other had solid slabs of refractory brick (that I saved for my eventual smelting).

@@bigbluepacific3950 That's what I'd like to find out. Also, it would be informative as to what the makeup of an average car is. Aluminum would be a large amount, since modern cars use a lot of it in the body, engine, wheels, and other assorted parts. The subframe and suspension would be mostly steel, including the transmission because the gearbox uses hardened steel gears and components to withstand the wear and tear of daily driving and the force applied by the engine. There is some glass and a lot of plastic parts from the interior and trim. It also depends on the model year of the car. Much older, pre-1980 cars consisted of more steel because the bodies were generally not aluminum like today's cars that use more aluminum for the purpose of saving weight and gas mileage.

Love what you do stackD, I have a suggestion for a video. Take a old crucible that you are ready to retire and fill it with molten copper right to the rim, then let it freeze in the crucible. Once hard break the crucible to unveil a solid copper crucible that you can then polish and engrave with your logo. Would look pretty sick in your new treasure room. Keep doing what your doing man also give Bullion and Ingot a pet from us.

Nice silver contacts in that jar. It will take a bit of chemistry to extract pure but even impure the silver content would make a cool ingot. @@leadbadger9543 I was going to mention Sreetips as well. To extract the silver, I would recommend dissolving in nitric and cementing out on copper. The resulting silver cement can be melted to (impure) ingots or to shot for an electrolytic silver cell (see Sreetips). After the silver has been extracted, the dissolved copper can be cemented out on iron/steel.

Where's the link to the steam explosion video? I don't see one for it in the description unless it's part of one of the other videos you have linked.

Though I suppose many have asked, I've never known the answer. Target is 1 ton. What happens at 1 ton? Will you make 1 giant ingot? 🤣🤣🤣

Awesome video! Amazing copper haul from that broken machinery. Really like the trick of melting the aluminum housing and pulling out the higher melting point metals - that just makes a ton of sense. Beautiful out there where you shop is and really appreciate your continued tradition of the cold beer, awesome socks and of course the new Pringles(TM) canned Buffalo chicken sandwich which looked amazingly good. That steam explosion is a pretty horrifying! Amazing melt and pour - awesome video! 👍

You might find use from streetips. His videos are long and boring at times, but he showsmany different processes for extracting gold, silver and copper from other metals.

I have enjoyed watching your videos and I'm looking forward to trying my hand at melting some copper, aluminum and brass when I get to my new shop in Tennessee next month. Really appreciated the "STEAM EXPLOSION". I hope everyone can avoid injury and damage that can happen so quickly when we fail to take proper precautions. Be safe and stay well.
