Hey Fred. Always a pleasure to see these. I saw Camplone show Harlem Pop Trotters and I jumped on it and loved it. Placebo is a good comparison. I need to go check out Cortex now. Thanks!

That Gentle Soul looks quite nice...its completely new to me. Will keep my eyes peeled for that Jerry Harrison. Went out to the shops yesterday (a couple days after first watching this) and managed to grab that Adrian Belew. Need to spend some more time with the second Mler Ife Dada LP that I picked up in Portugal. Didn't come across that first one when i was there. I hope they reissue that Cortex again at some point. Spun Kilimanjaro, along with some other Liverpudlian records before a recent trip there. Merry Christmas, Fred.

Hi Fred - you just reminded me to pull out the Adrian Below solo album and the first track on Moon Safari - sounding great - thank you! Also bought the Sigur Ros recently - lovely stuff! Please say hi to Chris from me when you catch up with him - I always love hearing what he has been listening to!

Hey Fred, love Remain in Light but it never occurred to me to go check out side projects (apart from bush of ghosts) so I will be looking into Harrison and Belew (love that Belew cover, btw). Lou seemed to put a lot of live albums out in the 70s. Love Kilimanjaro, good point on side one and well described. Was lucky to find my copy in an op shop, has the other cover though. Ah Moon Safari, I remember playing that the summer it came out. Still their best. Great one leading with La Femme on your sets can totally see that, love the cooking analogy too :) I have not heard of Mandu. So much to check out here, hope you're well. cheers- Dean

I'm surprised that Lou Reed gig hasn't been released as a 2LP set. I think Rock and Roll Animal is one of the best live albums in rock. The cooking analogy was brilliant.

When you said Hubbard I thought of that scientology bloke for some reason... Just wanted to wish you all the best Fred for this Xmas whatever you are doing. Martin Parrott.

Fred, your listening stack is making me pull out some albums for a re-listen. I don't have Stop Making Sense, but I do have the Jerry Harrison and Adrian Belew. Kilimanjaro is another one. I see KZbin has the Gentle Soul album for listening. Thanks, Chris

Shoot! I almost picked up that Jerry Harrison LP today. Been a Talking Heads fan since I was a kid in the 80’s. I’m going to pull out that Tear Drop Explodes record and give it a listen. I have the American version with the different cover. Always good to hear from you even if I say nothing or leave comments. Have a wonderful Christmas/ summer break!

Great stuff Fred. That Hub Of Hubbard can be overlooked for sure in Freddie’s discography. Damn solid record. I feel like MPS could do no wrong during that time. Killer label.

Yes. To pick a fav Coltrane is impossible. As you said, the man did so many good records. For me, I always come back to Giant Steps. It just sum up everything I want out of jazz. Tempo, musicality and finesse. But there is a Coltrane record for every mood. More so than Miles imo. I have to be in a Miles kind of mood but I can be in a shitty mood and put on a Coltrane. Or a stressed mood and put one on. Ok that was my two cents. Marry Christmas Fred if we don’t see you before!

I’ll have to look up that gentle Soul it sounds interesting. I hope you already know her music, but if you don’t you really need to check out Jessica Pratt. Her debut album is full of wonderful folk tunes with lots of finger picking riffs similar in style to Bridget St John. I love it! Oh and a new one this year in a similar vein is The Two Worlds by Brigid Mae Power. It’s also great. I remember you turned me onto that Cortex a few years back super funky record! Would love to find a copy.another great album I believe you showed at some point is that first pylon record. You should also look up a band called Warehouse and their album Super Low. Fantastic music!

Il faut que j'écoute ce adrian belew! Je me rappelle que tu avais parlé de ce groupe portugais, il faut que j'écoute ça aussi. The cherry thing est génial vraiment. Cortex! mythique. Between, oui vraiment magnifique cet album.
