Have you seen what Welker Farms is doing? They are taking a series, one big bud, and re-fitting, rebuilding it to accommodate huge LSW tires, and a new (to them) engine. Currently they have the tractor split in a half, and are continuing to work on individual parts. I think they’re about ready to reset the cabin.😊

Welker Farms is deep into BUD Tractors and can use them HUGE farm and are building a killer Bid Bud

Welker videos on average have a 2 - 4 week lag from filming to being published to YT, as they have a 3rd party handle the editing and publishing upon their final approval depending on everyone's schedule. It's a lot further along IRL to meet their April deadline.

Always a good day to see a Big Bud video. The cabs on those Big Bud's always remind me of a community airport control tower in design/shape. They are about as high up in the air too.

I got to see the Big Bud 747 at the Heartland Museum in Clarion, Iowa before they mounted the new LSW tires and shipped it back to Montana. Absolutely awesome machine. Great museum too.

It was great that it got to spend time in Iowa. I had a chance to visit it twice at the Museum.

Our two main farm tractors are a 525/50 and 450/50 big bud. Love those tractors! They only made around 30 of the 450/50's

950 versatile is the biggest tractor that we got, we pull an extremely heavy Krause 32' I believe? Somewhere in that range chisel plow with the stubble sweeps on it (longer), and then we have a 36' calkins field cultivator, a calkins 45' field cultivator, a 36' Morris rod weeder, a 32' JD heavy disk, a 14' JD offset disk, and a 70' Degelman drag harrow, I also farm with an 1973 D6C farm cat with a 3306 turbo engine, I run the cat over plowed ground with the disk, because it's smoother going over the furrows with the cat then the tractor. And I also will Rod weed summer fall ground with the cat as well. I also have an older 1967 D6B but the undercarriage on it is bad, so she is parked in the shed most of the time, but if we get alot of snow, or in the spring i will hook one of our hay trailers up to it, and feed cows with it because it floats across mud, and through the snow better than our feed tractors, and if I'm being honest I prefer running the cats over the tractors for farming if I'm being honest, way smoother ride most of the time

I like these big tractors that were made to last decades upon decades. Now just replacing one of the plastic JD hoods is a couple grand. It's really pretty pathetic what planned obsolescence has done to the quality of just about everything you buy nowadays.

@duggydo - don’t know where your getting your pricing but new 8R hood is over $ 8,000.00

It is amazing at how much tractors have increased in cost. I did a story for a magazine in 2001 on a1975 Steiger Panther II which I had a copy of the original sales receipt of $42,000 from the farm. In 2001 $42,000 would buy a 35 hp tractor and a top 4wd at 450 hp on tracks was $250,000.
